Hey, welcome to the club! Quite the set up you've got. What year is she? Let's see those pictures. The cam is going to be up to you. See how she feels at idle, it will run rougher at idle with a big cam but you'll have great power in the 3K rpm range.

Hi I noticed your running dished pistons, you'd probably be better off with the flat tops instead while you have the motor out and almost ready. I'd considering putting flat tops in as obviously you'll get higher compression and more power and it will also help with bottom end torque.

I'm assuming that the STAGE3 camshaft is a rather wild combination as you haven't really stated what specs it is. You can counter the lack of low end torque by setting the cam timing using the cam gear numbers there should be a 1,2,3 and depending how your car is set up you have those options.

From the looks of everything else you've done or been doing it would be a shame to go with dished pistons if you ask me. :)

Nice work btw looks like your doing things properly :).

With a fat cam you need higher compression to start out with, with that much duration your gonna lose a bunch of it (compression). Unless your going turbo, in which you'll want a different cam profile to begin with.

Dave

P.S. welcome to the site

see thats what i was thinking....i really dont want to switch out my pistons...for a couple of reasons...

i did not rebuild my bock, i had a machine shop do it that does Z engines...so they overbored it and installed these pistons, and i paid $1300 for the engine block, so i dont want to switch them out! ill probbaly end up using this cam for a while, then if it really doesnt preform well at all ill go down to stage 2....

im only going to use this car for driving around my town, ya know, downshifting to throw the RPM's up and fly by someone.....some track and autox...

Andrew, Your photos are up. Looks to me like your doing a first class job. Well, Maybe except for the orange details on the engine, drivetrain and suspension LOL

Don't listen to me, it's a taste thing and it is your car! Good on ya and keep the photos coming.

bubble, you started out with a post that was quite intense. This is not zcar we are serious and not a bunch of children . I do welcome you to the club and I hope you find that we are a wealth of information. The low compression is going to cost you HP no doubt , unless you go turbo. As was stated before flat top pistons would have been a better option. You should still enjoy an increase in power. Look to going with flat topped pistons in the future. m 3cts
