what do you think about 5.0 miatas?

this guy was telling me all about the monster miatas (with ford 5.0 motors) and i was like "you're kidding me, right?" but anyway, i know that it makes the WR 53/47 or something like that, but i just think that putting a v-8 in a japanese sports car is just making it into a muscle car. anyway, so what do you think?

How about "Vette" power? Saw this parked on the street in front of last years' Mossy Nissan Show. Don't know much about the car but it was very nicely done.

1.8 Miatas are just fine by me.

Even 1,6 Miatas, driven properly, are quite a handfull. I really don't see the need. Except for sheer shock value.

i know what you mean... i don't understand why people need to try to overengineer cars... especially essentially "perfect" ones like a miata

because its fun, and people go AHHHHH when the see a baby car like a miata with a 400 HP v8 in it.

Why drive a Z then??? I'm sure a Ford Festiva would get you from A to B, and be more practical.

The Bullet Is a complete subframe built for racing, with tuned suspension, a Lexus alloy V8 and a MX5 (miata) body draped over the top to make it all a bit cheaper.

One of the prototypes came up for sale a few years back, with a 13B Turbo powering it. It was cheaper than a Stock MX5 from the same year range, but would have been a bit of a test mule too.

well, partially b/c i'm not dropping a v12 into it. if a sleek japanese sports car with a 2.4L L6 is "overengineering" then sue me for owning a z

i have nothing against the bullet cars, it just seems like a waste TO ME when you can put a 13b in a miata and have the front end weigh at least 150 lbs lighter than if you had put a v8 in it.

besides... what bugs me is the ford 5.0L in a miata: an ok engine in a great car..

I see no prob with overbuilding a car as long as you use things that are equally good as the car as in parts, but its alot like keeping a 240z stock or building a 400hp turbo screamer but get you to the store to buy beer just depends on how fast you want to get there, but I was gonna shove a bigger or overpowered motor into a car I would stay with something japanese , just my 2 pennies
