Luke240z Posted October 23, 2004 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2004 What seems to be the problem... At first I thought it must be the gasket between the fuel pump and the spacer, so I put on a new gasket and sealant. Then the problem persisted. It only leaks maybe 5-10ml after a 30km drive, but when the engine bay is nice and clean it can pi$$ me off no end. How can I fix this? After a second look closely with the car running and nice and warm, it is definately spitting out from that little hole on the fuel pump.Luke Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/13748-oil-leaking-from-mechanical-fuel-pump-breather/ Share on other sites

Luke240z Posted October 24, 2004 Author Share #3 Posted October 24, 2004 Can you replace the diaphram or is it easier to get a new pump. And if so where?ThanksLuke Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/13748-oil-leaking-from-mechanical-fuel-pump-breather/#findComment-99258 Share on other sites
Bambikiller240 Posted October 24, 2004 Share #4 Posted October 24, 2004 AFAIK, you cannot get the diaphram separately. In the USA, almost any Parts Store can ge the pumps. An NISSAN OEM pump would be quite expensive compared to an OEM equivilant from a parts store. beandip Posted October 24, 2004 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2004 Some times when the diaphram fails it pumps fuel into the crankcase. Be sure and check the oil !! Go electric, look for a RX-7 in the boneyard '79 or '80 any of them just as long as they were NA and not injected. They work just fine and at the riight pressure. Your 240 is already wired for it.
