Power Antenna in a Bag - Original?

Recommended Posts

I have been searching the Forums for answers to this question. I have just found the mast in the original 1973 Fairlady 240Z electric antenna broken.

I also discovered that the drain hose had a couple of kinks between the antenna unit and the drain plug. (Could have been like this from new.) Needless to say the drain hasn't worked for sometime. There is corrosion in the antenna unit, but not totally destructive. The motor works OK I believe, but I need to know if I can source a replacement mast. I have not been able to get the metal mast with the bit of plastic attached to extend beyond the steel tube. I cannot tell if it was possible to re-attach the plastic to the metal.

The replacement mast pictured by Joseph (240 in OZ) seems the way to go, but 26th Z obviously believes they are hard to get.

I would appreciate some help, to direct me to either replace entire unit or just the mast.

Regards, Jack

Hello Jack

In the first instance you may like to try MSA (Motorsports Auto) located in the USA (website is www.zcarparts.com). If they dont have the replacement mast available you may have to exercise your patience a little as they do appear on USA ebay from time-to-time.

I hope this helps you out.

Joseph

Hullo Joseph

I am still looking for the right replacement for the Antenna Mast. The Stainless Steel section is unblemished, but the plastic fatigued and broke. I am going to try a local plastic welding guy when they return to duties next week. It MAY be possible for the new plastic welding techniques to repair it.

I did pick up a mast from our local Nissan dealer, but it has a much shorter shank and would not do the job. Although it only says "Made in Japan" and is many years old, we could not tell from the packaging what it was for.

Regards, Jack
