Well this evening I went to pick up a friend. I was coming up through some of them beautifull Ozarks when it happened. I was Doing the speed limit maybe a little under it. Well Going through Heber Springs Arkansas is really fun to drive on. But its in town with bad traffic and a chance that there maybe ice on the roads.

I started into this tight little hairpin corner. Then it happened. The rear end popped realy loud and locked up. I span in a complete circle then it was going around again and the rear end gripped and straight into the ditch. I missed a colvert by maby 2 inches. Thought it busted the rad. But it didnt. I called my dad at midnight to get him to help me. Gee was he thrilled. We looked it over and he said he thought the sterring rack might be messed up. He said he was driving it home. I tried my best to stop him but he is my bull headed father.

The only damage that we can see in the dark is a broken turn signal lense. But its getting new rack unit and new rear struts before it gose muche further.

Everyone is ok for now. We think my passenger has wiplash. But it takes 24 hrs. to tell for sure.

Ill keep yall posted.

Glad your AOk.

Struts don't cause a rear end to "lock up". You need to look into this and see what is broken back there. Differential, Axles, Rear Wheel Bearings, ...........

Are you sure "brake are for losers"?

Yup it was my intension. I think im going to do that now LOL. But i got to get the 71 ready for the engine.

The reason i said struts is becouse when you go into a cornerevan going slowly into a corner it start walking. The rear end sometimes would jump and you would have to chase it.

I donno. I dont feel so good about driving it anymore LOL.

Hey Bill-

We have these little humped back bridges over all the canals and waterways around here. Years ago, I got 26 completely unweighted over the top of one and put her backwards into somebody's bushes in their front yard. Didn't hurt the car. Mowed some bushes down, though.

Well im noit the most inclined person. We checked it out The rear end is sound we drove it the 45 minutes home. I took it to get some gas and roasted em leaving the driveway.

The steering is realy loose. We still cant figure out what it is. I donno.
