woodzcar Posted January 28, 2005 Author Share #4 Posted January 28, 2005 I like the sound of the component systems with the separate tweeters. I have a set in my Saab and they are spectacular sounding! The guy on ebay does't have any component systems does he? 280z Posted January 28, 2005 Share #5 Posted January 28, 2005 he doesnt have any component systems. these are the kappas your looking for?http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=1137174&search=Infinity+Kappa+60.5csi dont think the will fit unless you modify the door. you might want to look for a 4" component system, or i could be completely wrong and they do fit. i would take off the door panel and measure diameter and depth before purchasing anything. Bambikiller240 Posted January 28, 2005 Share #7 Posted January 28, 2005 Does anbody know if 6.5" Infinity Kappas will fit in the doors of a 240Z. I found a set for $179 on-line and would like to pick them up before they are gone!ThanksMy car has 4.5" speakers in the doors, installed by the original owner. Besides having to butcher the door panels, he had to carve (enlarge) spaces in the metal interior panel of the doors to get the speakers to fit.If you don't mind damaging your panels and doors, you can probably get them to fit. But wouldn't you rather listen to the L24 sing? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14800-65-infinity-kappas-in-doors/#findComment-110550 Share on other sites
ChrisA Posted January 28, 2005 Share #8 Posted January 28, 2005 Do you know about the MSA rear speaker panel that will hold 6 x 9's? Then you wouldnt have to butcher the doors, just remove the tail light inner panel and replace with the MSA piece.http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SPChris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14800-65-infinity-kappas-in-doors/#findComment-110554 Share on other sites

71ZZZZZ Posted November 2, 2005 Share #11 Posted November 2, 2005 If you can, just hold on, better answers are being worked out....WillI'm needing to deal with my door panels/speaker installation since my 240 is now at the paint shop...it's been a few months since this post, what's happening with this "better answer"..? I'm looking for good alternatives to paying a premium for a NOS and not wanting to cut into those... :beard: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14800-65-infinity-kappas-in-doors/#findComment-144233 Share on other sites

I found a set for $179 on-line and would like to pick them up before they are gone!ThanksOk the important question is, do you already have holes in your doors from previous speakers? If the answer is yes, then upgrading to some nice speakers like infinitys is a good idea. If your doors are orginal....uncut...then I would point you to a box or panel setup in the back hatch area. the MSA board is pretty expensive but fits pretty nicely in the area where the plastic taillight cover goes. It uses the stock locations for screwing it down and holding it in place. When i put mine in, i was worried about rattling or noises from behind there, so i used a few zip ties to cinch down the wiring harnesses and a bit of padding behind the speaker panel as well. id be glad to snap a pic of this setup if you like.
