cremmenga Posted February 10, 2005 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2005 My Z has an AC in it and I don't think I will use it, I think it worked but I think it just got unhooked bc it is a hp robbing son of a gun. does anyone know how much I should sell it for?? ezzzzzzz Posted February 10, 2005 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2005 Is this factory or aftermarket A/C? I might be interested in it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14947-air-conditioner/#findComment-112196 Share on other sites
cremmenga Posted February 10, 2005 Author Share #3 Posted February 10, 2005 To tell you the truth I am kind of new to the whole Z car thing, and I"m not real sure. How can I tell? MikeW Posted February 10, 2005 Share #4 Posted February 10, 2005 What year is your car? Early models of the 240Z didn't come with AC from the factory so they were installed by the dealers. Once you could get AC from the factory I suspect the number of dealer installations went down considerably. cremmenga Posted February 11, 2005 Author Share #5 Posted February 11, 2005 It is a 1972 240z. How much do you think it is worth? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14947-air-conditioner/#findComment-112285 Share on other sites
MikeW Posted February 11, 2005 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2005 Sorry, I should have looked at your public profile first. I also have a '72 and mine came with dealer installed air. I suspect yours is as well. Mine is a Borg-Warner compressor and is big and heavy and was mounted on a big and heavy bracket over the fuel pump. Even though I removed it many years ago - since it didn't work well and the car wanted to overheat - I kept it for some reason. I really don't think it's worth much and if and when I do put AC back in the car it will probably be a modern and efficient compressor running R134a. CrashNBurn Posted March 1, 2005 Share #7 Posted March 1, 2005 This is slightly related...Has anyone sat down and thought about modernizing the ac/heat controls? I've been brainstorming a bit and would like to replace the lever/cable controls with modern switches running little actuators. I'd also like to find some modern knobs for blower speed and maybe temperature controls, like what you find in cars today. What about rebuilding the system with a more compact fan and distribution box? Just a thought or two...Jason Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14947-air-conditioner/#findComment-114671 Share on other sites
TomoHawk Posted March 1, 2005 Share #8 Posted March 1, 2005 Jason-You might look at what the aftermarket companies are doing for heat & a/c. It's the big thing for hotrods because it's all custom- not factory. Check those out first to get ideas. hls30.com Posted March 2, 2005 Share #9 Posted March 2, 2005 Jason,That is another project I am working on-but I am only updating the major components-not the controls. I want it all to look like it has never been messed with, but to work like the AC in a new luxury car-I want ac so cold the ambient humidity condenses on the outside of the car when the A/C is on!Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/14947-air-conditioner/#findComment-114681 Share on other sites
