Bubbleguinea Posted February 26, 2005 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2005 hey guys...im back from zcar.com. those guys are giving me such poo poo cause im 18 and apartenly i built my z wrong.anywho, i reinstalled my old pulley, and it came apart. luckily i heard the noise, and stopped before it flew off. so now im getting a new one. problem is, the pulley almost welded itself to the crank. i got it off, hoever, there are a few marks on the very end of the crank, where metal from the pulley has attached itself to the cranki talked to Eddie Radatz, where i live, and he said hes seen it before, that all you do is get some sand paper and carefully sand the very tip of the crank down, where the metal is, and slide the new pulley back on. also get a new crank key, and put locktite on it when setting the key in to seat it correct.well jerks at zcar.com are saying i ruinied my entire car and i dont deserve it blah blah and that i need a new crank. what do yall think? Ed Posted February 26, 2005 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2005 As long as there was no damage done to the crank there is no reason why you couldn't fix it. Like your friend suggested take some sandpaper or a fine tooth flat file and carefully remove the excess metal. Trial fit the new pulley several times until it slides on smooth. If you can post a picture so we can get a better idea of what happened and why. Bambikiller240 Posted February 26, 2005 Share #4 Posted February 26, 2005 You'll want to ONLY REMOVE THE METAL THAT WAS TRANSFERRED to the crank. Nothing more. (and be careful about it!)
