Canuk240Z Posted May 24, 2005 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2005 Hi, I have been lurking on this board for a while. From what I have read it seems to be a great bunch of enthusiasts! I currently have a S2000 and want to get an early Z. My dad had one when I was young and I love the classic looks and performance of these cars. I live in Canada where winter and rust got most of the Zed's up North. Finding one in good condition is difficult if not impossible. My question is; am I being realistic in looking for an early Z for between $4000 and $8000 USD? I would like an original car with no mods. What I ultimately want is a nice summer driver with good paint, no rust, original interior and some 15" Rewinds. I have some mechanical experience and would like a project, just not a huge one, that's all. I almost bought one in Vancouver for $7000 USD. Silver, second owner, completely original except for slotted mags. Frame rail rust scared me away. Any comments would be appreciated. I am looking on ebay, hemmings, and classic auto trader daily. Can anyone help me in Cali or the West coast if I find one to look at it for me? I would be willing to compensate $ for their time. Thanks and Peace! Bambikiller240 Posted May 24, 2005 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2005 Our member zhead240 (he's in Canada also) just bought a nice one for around $11K. Spending less may result in "issues" to be dealt with, but if you look long enough, and hard enough, you might find a good one for under $10K. Take your time and search thoroughly and you will be rewarded. beandip Posted May 24, 2005 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2005 I am sorry to inform you that to find a completly cherry 240 for the price you are looking , is going to be really hard. A Z that is rust free and completely un modfied will cost at least 10K . I have seen one two years ago and it had only 67K on the clock and it was at the $13k range. The really clean cars are few and far between. This is why we are rebuilding what we can . If you have the BUCKS , you will find a truly fine Z .
