Mike , has anyone reported having trouble with there computer after down loading the CD? I have been having nothing but trouble , computer locking up , mostly and not being able to open and receive E-Mail. I removed acrobat reader and that seems to have cured the problem. I also removed all of the Zcar cd. I plan on trying and loading it all up again , but was just wondering if any one else has had this problem. It might have been some glich when I installed it .

I have not experienced the same problem specifically with the Microfiche CD but have seen that type of behavior from a PC that has a very full hard drive. If you don't know the PC needs the disk to have disk space to use for swapping memory. If you fill up your hard disk than this cannot occur and you will see performance suffer dramatically.

If you think this may be the case, it would be helpful to know which operating system version you have, how much installed memory, and how big is the drive. Also, how much disk space do you have available before or after you install Acrobat and the Z microfiche stuff from the CD.

I'd rather work on my Z than my computer (especially a PC) but computer work is cleaner!

Hope it helps!

Judging from the size of your hard drive, not too small but small by current standards, I am going to guess that you have Windows95, maybe windows98. It sounds like the problem is not with disk space but may be a disk problem if you disk is heavily fragmented. I am not going to pretend to be a PC expert, my experience is with UNIX servers. If you are just booting your system that it shouldn't be a memory issue. Most likely you have some type of conflict between old and new software on your computer. I would check the Microsoft web site. You can select your operating system and type in the symptoms and may get some ideas of how to fix it. If you have installed or changed anything else on your system recently that is another good place to start looking. For example, if you installed Acrobat and you started having problems, check there web site. Like the Microsoft sites you should be able to do a search find known problems with there application and different operationg systems.

Sorry, that's all I've got! Hope it helps.

I have been defaggmetting every 4 days and I have windows 98 I down loaded arobat reader when I loaded the zcar cd it all was included . I have just signed up with AT&T Broadband. Will see it that cures the trouble. I have eliminated all that I have loaded about all there is left is my address book and a file on expences on the z. Thanks for the post . Gary

Heyya bean,

No, I haven't heard any reports of problems like that. The only item required to view the contents of the CD is Adobe Acrobat Reader. Our data actually stays on the CD, so, you shouldn't have to uninstall anything other than Acrobat Reader.

Strange, though... Acrobat is pretty good. Sounds like your system gets better after you uninstall it.

Hey, you can try the newest version of Acrobat Reader. They are up to 5.0 now. So, try that... maybe it will work better.

Your internet connection shouldn't play any sort of factor in this equation.

Do you see the same problems when you just open Acrobat Reader by itself? If not, you might want to try and follow the "disable plugin" instructions. Acrobat automatically launches acrobat from inside the web browser. I recommend that everyone disables the 'plugin' feature of Acrobat Reader because the quality sucks.

Anyway, there's a few things to try.
