matria Posted June 7, 2005 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2005 The lable came off of the bag containing these 4 bolts with a D shaped head. Can anyone help with where they go. Thanks, Skip Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/ Share on other sites

Bambikiller240 Posted June 7, 2005 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2005 Never seen bolts with heads like that on any of my 240Z's, but the idea makes sense. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126657 Share on other sites
matria Posted June 7, 2005 Author Share #4 Posted June 7, 2005 Thanks for the input. These bolts came off of my early 260z. I went though my FSM and CD and cannot find any reference around the driveshaft/r200 area. gramercyjam Posted June 7, 2005 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2005 They may be from a ZX. I pulled a few 5 speeds lately from the JY and make sure and take these with me as I like them better than what was on my 240. Plus the nuts eventually get rounded off because they are hard to get a wrench on (yours are headed that way) and they are certainly a better grade and fit than what you can buy as replacements at the hardware store. mdbrandy Posted June 7, 2005 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2005 They do look just like the drive shaft to diff bolts from my '78 280Z. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126698 Share on other sites
matria Posted June 7, 2005 Author Share #7 Posted June 7, 2005 I am wondering if they came off of the ZX that I pulled the r200 out of? Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126706 Share on other sites
Bambikiller240 Posted June 8, 2005 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2005 They do look just like the drive shaft to diff bolts from my '78 280Z.Hmmm, now I'm annoyed that I bought OEM 240Z D/S bolts, nuts, and washers on eBay a few months ago. I'll have to add those bolts/nuts to my JY shopping list. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126713 Share on other sites
Ed Posted June 8, 2005 Share #9 Posted June 8, 2005 Those same bolts were on my 73, driveshaft to diff. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126728 Share on other sites
mdbrandy Posted June 8, 2005 Share #10 Posted June 8, 2005 I am wondering if they came off of the ZX that I pulled the r200 out of? Thanks for your help.My '78 280Z does, of course have an R200, and it is a very late build date - so I have found that some things on the car were early adoptions for the oncoming 280ZX's. I don't have any earlier 280Z stuff to compare to. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16193-d-head-bolts/#findComment-126729 Share on other sites
