Good to see that somebody else around here is interested in a 280ZX project :knockedou . I say go for it, try and find a coupe but you will be in for a long hard look. If you dont have any luck finding one, just do what Iam doing and rip out the back seats and register it as a 2 seater.

saw a 2 seater at the z nationals in sydney in 93 wasnt in the show just a spectator out at oran park had a sweet front spoiler and looked really trick

was amazed at how much better it looked than the 2 + 2

reckon japan would be your best bet to find one

I agree with the L28Turbo - the L series engine really does lend itself to the Turbo.

Also, I know where a 1979 2 seater fairlady 280ZX exists (in Brisbane) - however it has only ever been officially on the market once (approx. late 1999) wanted $7500 - $8500 back then.

I have seen THE GENTLEMAN concerned in the last 6 months & I think he will only sell to a collector who will keep it original & will demand top dollar if he in fact decides to sell. Mention modified Z's & you are GONE!!

It is a great car - original Japanese car (RHD) & of course has the L20 (2 litre) six cylinder engine with injection, 5 speed gearbox & nominates unleaded fuel only.

If anyones ever looking for rust free shells or used/new parts for their Z go here :www.zcarsource.com they sell great stuff and i just found them the other day. I was looking for a 240z shell and they had a 1972 and 1973 completely rust free shells for $1500 (little outa my range, but think... RUST FREE ) I Believe they are located in AZ... check em out if your interested.

I thought id post this cuz if ur looking to import a 280zx coupe from the U.S. i bet they would have one. Anyways good luck on finding one!

No, I wouldn't want to modify a really good one anyway, as with the 260 I'd want something with a decent body that is otherwise not collectable :)

As for the L28, at the moment the choice would be a Nissan V6 turbo, probably a VQ30. Would want 400 rwhp, to do that with a L28 reliably and with fair fuel economy would not be cost effective.

Get onto one of the import mobs and have a chat to them. They are before 1988, so you can still bring them in from Japan. Them might come across one in their travels.

The companies that bring over drift cars might find a nice one with a few mods already done. LOL
