So I just saw that the Nismo rear sway bar installation kits for cars that didn't originally come with them are now No Longer Available.

While my 73 didn't come with a rear bar from the factory there are what appears to be a place for rear swaybar brackets to mount to on the underside of my car.

Anyone found a work-around?

Suspension Techniques makes a rear mounted bar that attaches to the 2 uprights that locate the rear control arm bushings for a 240. IMO this is the best solution. If you space the bar back about 3/4" from the uprights it is bind free (that's not in the instructions, but it's a good idea).

The other solution is the MSA sway bar for a 240 which mounts in front of the diff (not sure if the mounts are identical to the Nismo). Problem with it is that it binds pretty bad after only a few inches of suspension travel.

The 280's had a sway bar mount that came down from the frame rail. I'd imagine that the reason this mount sticks down an inch or so is to allow the swaybar to clear the frame and the floor, and prevent it from binding like the MSA bar.

I already have a rear bar, it's a NOS Nismo one... I wanted to use it on my 73.

Guess I'll just fab up a bracket and pour some urethane bushings to fit.

I wonder if you might be able to cut the brackets off of a 280 and weld them to your car, then maybe use 280 sway bar bushings if you can find the right size.

Good photos, hey that copper pipe trick you did for the vapor tank, that's exactly how I fixed mine. :D

Did those upright mounts for the rear come with the kit?

I currently have a fuel pump mounted to that piece, does anyone think that it will get in the way of a swaybar?

yes, the silver colored mounts came with the kit. No it won't get way (well I guess it could)...

Yeah, the copper piece was the way to go, I couldn't even get the plastic piece to go into the new fuel hose....
