78 280zcar Posted July 31, 2005 Share #1 Posted July 31, 2005 I went to pick and pull today to add to my collection of tranny swap parts and I tried to get the flywheel and the clutch pedal arm and springs. I could not figure out how to get the pedal arm off, I just need the arm and whatever else is hooked to it like the neutral safety switch and what nots. If anyone can give me some advice on how to get it out or if they have an extra arm with no rust and take paypal please let me know. Also I got a 5 speed tranny from a 1979 280zx and it has back seats does this mean it is a 2+2 and if I buy a clutch kit do I have to buy one for a 2+2 or do I just buy the 1978 clutch kit. hls30.com Posted July 31, 2005 Share #2 Posted July 31, 2005 You need the 2+2 clutch kit if you are using the flywheel form the 2+2 tranny(the trannys are the same, but the flywheels are different)Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16747-i-need-help/#findComment-132531 Share on other sites
78 280zcar Posted July 31, 2005 Author Share #3 Posted July 31, 2005 Thanks for the response. I did not get the flywheel from the 79, it had some spider cracks in it. I was going to get a flywheel for my 78. I would love to get a racing style clutch kit but for now I just want to get stock to get use to the shifting. I found a flywheel for about 50.00 at kragen, so I am just going to go with that. sblake01 Posted July 31, 2005 Share #4 Posted July 31, 2005 You can't just remove the clutch pedal arm. You need to get the whole clutch and brake pedal assembly. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16747-i-need-help/#findComment-132560 Share on other sites
mriz Posted July 31, 2005 Share #5 Posted July 31, 2005 I took the clutch/brake pedal assembly off the 1977 5 speed parts car today . Surface rust(parts car) sand and paint. Yours if you want it. 78 280zcar Posted July 31, 2005 Author Share #6 Posted July 31, 2005 How much do you want for it and shipping? How did you take it off anyway? You wouldnt happen to have a flywheel from that parts car would you, the flywheel I was going to get was for a turbo 2+2. Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16747-i-need-help/#findComment-132600 Share on other sites
mriz Posted July 31, 2005 Share #7 Posted July 31, 2005 Whatever the shipping comes to and whatever you think it's worth. To remove it there are about 4 bolts on the firewall and a few under the dash. Only took about 15 min to remove. I can post a pic of it tomorrow. As far as flywheel I have to roll it over to get to the tranny and motor . Not close to doing that yet. Remember it's a 1977, not sure if any difference to 1978. Btw where the heck is Turlock? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16747-i-need-help/#findComment-132602 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted August 1, 2005 Share #8 Posted August 1, 2005 77 and 78 are the same. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16747-i-need-help/#findComment-132604 Share on other sites
78 280zcar Posted August 1, 2005 Author Share #9 Posted August 1, 2005 Turlock is in CA. I am not sure what it is worth but how does $40.00 sound for it and shipping. Please post a pic of it and maybe a pic of where the bolts are under the dash, I found the four bolts that are on the firewall but couldnt find the ones under the dash. Thanks and I will send you a private message with my address on it.
