g72s20 Posted August 21, 2005 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2005 Apart from sounding like a Cessna...I don't think you'll have any problems from the seized fan clutch. Last year I drove my 240K 1100 Km ( about 650 miles) over two days with a siezed fan clutch, most of it at highway speeds. Better to fix it sooner than later. Much quieter and more pleasant to drive, and less strain on water pump bearings.Jim. Untill then keep the RPMs down . The clutch could fail and the fan will eat the radiator and maby the hood. sblake01 Posted August 21, 2005 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2005 Gary is correct. Replace it asap. They were not designed to run constantly engaged and the next step is complete failure of the shaft bearing. Does yours wobble? Had this happen on a 510 which is a little different since the clutch in integral with the water pump, but the result would be similar. No hood damage since the fan shoud kept the fan from going upward but the radiator was toast.
