oh, yes,

They let someone else buy the rights to "Girl, you really got me now"

It still brings up the 300 Barbie/GI Joe excitement.

I am missing the message their actions are sending.

The commercial is much more enjoyable with your eyes closed, or the sound off, but not both.

Maybe we can come up with a more fitting soundtrack-that should have been a the G35 ad. A Z should have more enjoyment in spirited driving than sputtering a tune shows-the ear to ear grin should make making that noise a physical impossability-drivin g a Z is supposed to embody excitement, not reactions equivalent to listening to a song whilst warming the loo seat, and thinking about going for a drive when you get through.

I got more excitement from the guy mumbling bad to the bone in "The Night Before" in a stolen Mustang.

Needless to say, today has sucked.

Ok, my humanity has resurfaced, and I played the ad again-but I have to say my first impression stuck-that music is for a fast luxury car, not a true sports car. When I think of driveing a Z fast with no consern for hitting anyone or anything, either the engine is the music with solos from the tires, or there is an undeniable quick beat that is a fundamental harmonic of my heart beat in flux, and supports the very ques that cause my dialation state to become more advanced!

The music behind the ad should be exciting, not merely enjoyable-the words should be like those of so many rock songs, almost lost in the beat. I would want the consumer to remember the message of the ad, not the parts used to inspire it. The barbie and Gi-Joe ad had the car as a tool for enjoyment and getting the girl, the music was about getting lost in both. This song is for thoughts of driving the car, not actually driving the car. Change the music, and they could have something, but instead of occasionally seeing a guy driving the car, we should see what he sees from his vantage point, after all, a Z is beautifuf from any angle(well maybe not a 350Z), but I prefer the view from the drivers seat(the only great view of a 350Z).

Hey Will - as I'm sure you're aware, the whole point was to put some really wrong music to the action. Unless Billy-Joe and his mum aka sister were in charge of sound. I think it could have really worked well. Think fighting scenes + classical music. Wrong, but works brilliantly sometimes. I do not believe it worked in this case. Like you said, the music "drowned out" the other, extremely well thought out and executed elements. I don't think the concept is flawed though.

Ha Haaa I loved it! but I'd only heard it sung by "Peter Paul and Mary" before today. A much more energetic version, if played while driving, it makes your whole body wanna join in, like dancing the Samba while hanging onto a steering wheel....geez ya get some looks in traffic!!! ..but then they can't hear it! Arlo's version sounds like he'd need wipers on the inside of his screen

It's all good fun,..right up there with;

Not to turn this into a political history discussion, but the World needed a few "this machine kills fascists" stickers on guitars when Woody was around.

Woody also holds a special place for many of us who grew up in Washington State because he wrote "Roll on Columbia" and when I was in elementary school we all learned the song, which is set to Leadbelly's Goodnight Irene.

It doesn't explain however, the British Documentary about Woody Guthrie and the Bonneville Power Administration which shows Woody singing with the Grand Coulee Dam in the background and it says it is in Oregon on the screen. That one time wonder of the western world is still in Washington State right here in my beautiful county of Okanogan, at least half of it anyway since the river is the county line.
