beandip Posted September 16, 2005 Share #13 Posted September 16, 2005 I appreciate the advice from all of you! I think the best thing to do is remove the engine and gut the interior. I will be doing all the work myself so that will save me some money. By all means, I am in no hurry to do this. Hell, it has been sitting for 12 years! I will keep you posted of my progress and I am sure I will have lots of questions. Thanks again!RickGood for you , I layed it out for you and you are still willing to tackle the car. I am in Portland Oregon . If I am close to you , call me I will help . If not , then I offer my knowledge , what there is , just ask . gary Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/17274-restoration-where-to-begin/?page=2#findComment-138308 Share on other sites

Arne Posted September 17, 2005 Share #15 Posted September 17, 2005 almost 240zx, the guys name is"Wick humble"he wrote how to restore your datsun z car. ( Isbn 1-55561-026-9) I thought it a good book.It is a good book, if you're goal is to totally strip and restore the car. It's an OK book if your plan is to refresh only, or refresh and modify. I bought the book as research before I decided for sure that I wanted to tackle a Z. I was hoping it would be as good as a similar book I had covering MGB restoration. That one covered each area separately, whereas Humble's book covers the entire process as one overwhelming lump.Fact is, Humble's book (while being filled with valuable info) might scare off someone who's never gotten into something like this before.
