ncz Posted September 28, 2005 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2005 Any advice, do I crack this thing or do I give it to local Z doctor. Starting to get smaller parts done(heater core, front turn signals, etc) and I need to get this one done. Read the manual and that section about put me to sleep. Any experiences are appreciated Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/17410-brake-booster-rebuild/ Share on other sites
montoya_fan01 Posted September 28, 2005 Share #2 Posted September 28, 2005 Order rebuilt one from MSA, or other source. Done. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/17410-brake-booster-rebuild/#findComment-139705 Share on other sites
ncz Posted September 28, 2005 Author Share #3 Posted September 28, 2005 I think those things are starting to get expensive. Wondered what one would cost vs to rebuild, even having the local shop rebuild it. dogma420 Posted October 5, 2005 Share #4 Posted October 5, 2005 Nissan OEM brand new...that's what MSA sells too--I got one from them--think of it this way--you probably won't have to replace it for a long time and it's a very important piece of equipment...looks good all new under hood with the shiny fill caps too. Dans240z Posted October 5, 2005 Share #5 Posted October 5, 2005 I have seen some on ebay lately for around maybe 40-60 dollars. I forget if they were re-built or brand new. Has anyone else seen these? I'm not sure if they're any good. xray Posted October 5, 2005 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2005 If you're going to order one, get a rebuilt one from MSA (or other source) like Montoya fan suggests. The "rebuild kits" I've seen are only a few dollars cheaper than a fully rebuilt one, so it's not worth the effort. New ones are crazy-expensive.What's wrong with yours? Does it not hold vacuum? Poor pedal engagement? My brakes didn't grip till they were almost all the way to the floor, a problem I traced back to a malpositioned reaction disk, easily fixable (thanks to advice from folks here). Saved myself some cash--maybe yours is similarly afflicted?SteveThis link may be useful:http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17072 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/17410-brake-booster-rebuild/#findComment-140553 Share on other sites
