Hi all,

I am thinking about adding something to the Z community. I have been researching a new exhaust system for my 1971 240Z. Right now I have a two-inch pipe, headers, and a turbo style muffler. It sounds good, but is on its way out.

I have listened to many clips off this site and thought it a good idea to compile and gain as many diverse clips as possible. What I am trying to guage, is how many people would actually be interested in contributing to this project? I have a great host with a lot of storage and fast access. I am thinking of starting the site off basic and build it from there.

Wouldn't it be awesome to listen to twin setups, with and without headers, different brand mufflers, and cams! Not to mention, I love any random video with a Z in it-period.

Let me know what you guys think.

Here is a brief video I threw together of my exhaust...and a couple donuts in a vacant parking lot...

Excellent Idea Jonathan. I have been trying to figure out a set up that sounds a bit different from the rest but they seem so limited. Maybe this way we can hear a certain tone we like and get a direction towards what we want to achieve.

Thanks,

Saro

That actually sounded nice till you left off the gas, it had a real raspy rice sound to it. Its why I dont like turbo mufflers.

This is a great idea though, testing out the sounds with different size pipes and mufflers. It would be a good sticky for all to see.

SavannahZ,

Great idea. We just got a new digital video cam a few months ago and I've been meaning to take some video of the my 240Z. For those researching potential exhaust configs, this would be an excellent resource. I'll try to make a video this weekend and then mess with the new video editing software I got with the camera.

Here's the posting with my exhaust config:

I think it sounds great. I'm interested to see what you all think when I post the video.

Cheers,

On the bottom right side of my website are links to 2 short vids of my car on the track and I think you might like the sound effects. Go to: www.baddogparts.com

Uhmmm, I didn't find the links...

edit: This would a great thread with more sound clips! On a couple of other auto forums I frequent, this is an often discussed subject. Thanks to those who posted sound clips.

I found em....

once at the site, on the left click the link "ABOUT" once that page loads, scroll down to the bottom right, 2 links that say: video1 & video2 click those bad boys :)

The sounds on the Bad Dog site are from my 72 240 w/3.2L - 44mm mikunis, 6 into one header, 2.75 pipe to Sebring Tuning (Jim Cook company) muffler. I can't say enough about how the muffler sounds and looks. It was a little over a $120. w/shipping and tip. It's the muffler Rebello has on his dyno (as Dave says if I have to listen to the thing all day it might as well sound good).
