Restoration Spreadsheet(s)

What about scanning a copy of the MF into Textbridge, Omnipage, or other OCR, and exporting the file to Access, and setting up a relational file set?

That way all models and parts would be covered, and the supercession data could be used to filter for model specific entries.

As far as a relational database, I bought one from a guy on the Roadster list, but unfortunately it's in Access 2000 and I only have 97. Since I've not been able to open it I'm not sure of what it will / won't do. I'm not sure if it can be saved in an older version of Access, but if someone with Access 2k is willing to try or knows.....

It's too late for me to start counting beers. The horse is already out of the barn. And knowing me, I wouldn't keep up with a spreadsheet anyhow. I think all of you would be impressed enough that I have a file cabinet with labeled file folders. I actually found a contact I made two years ago and finally ordered the other day! I was impressed.

What webdawg has done is organize his restoration plan. By going through the parts fiche and selecting his applicable part, he has begun to organize his work schedule. He has a grasp of the total amount of work. He might use the spreadsheet to select all the parts that go to a powder-coater or all the parts that go to the machine shop and realize some economy in his restoration. Time could be added to the list in order to help keep the project moving. I could imagine programming a calendar to provide a little pop-up smiley on the computer screen that says; "Time to buy your new cam sprocket, Mr. webdawg". Or; "Pick up your parts from Thrashwell & Snailby today!!!"

What's important is that these spreadsheets represent a restoration plan. Some sort of organization that will help account for the mess created when a Z car is taken apart. These little Datsuns are easy cars to work on, really. A spreadsheet like these are a big help and pretty easy to make.

I got it to run after loading the Access 2k Jet Engine.

I'll upload it as a Zip file.

The database is specifically for Roadsters and it has pictures on the forms, but apparently the writer; Matt Silvey did not leave the database open to be able to modify the forms / code / database. Then again that might be because of just having the Jet and not the full version.

The db has 3 screens separate from the main, and the resolution must be fixed for 1024 x 768 as the forms exceed the screen size alloted, but that again may be due to it being on the Jet and not the full.
