dreamscape289 Posted November 17, 2005 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2005 Greetings! I'm new to the forum and from the various threads I've perused, most people here really know their stuff. I have a 1976 280Z car that is a very strange egg. Background story: Bought it off ebay for a "cheap" price. Drove it from Seattle, WA, to Memphis, TN and was almost killed by the exhaust fumes. After looking around, found a rust hole in the back hatch AND the spare tire wheel well was totaly rusted through. I've looked all over for replacement wheel well sheet metal, but cannot find one. Any suggestions? this is the well in which the actual spare tire resides. (Called on place today and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about)Any help would be appreciated. Also, I'd like to just replace the back hatch completely. anyone with a spare/parts car they would be willing to part with? I cruised the zbarn.com website from previous postings and didn't see the wheel well, but left a message on their 800 number. Send me PM instructions and I'll do it. There are other ways but that is the easiest for me.I have a 72 240 about to leave this world that has a good spare tire well if you are interested, don't know if it will replace a 280 well correctly or not though. Arne Posted November 17, 2005 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2005 Too bad you didn't swing by Oregon on your way home - I've got a hatch I'd give you for free. Not great, but sounds better than the one you have. Probably not worth shipping, though. dreamscape289 Posted November 17, 2005 Author Share #6 Posted November 17, 2005 Arne, I'd be willing to ship it if it is in good enough condition. I and my wife both work for shipping companies, so our costs are minimal. Can you send some pictures? dreamscape289@yahoo.comLanceM, sorry about the PM. Go ahead and ignore. TomoHawk Posted November 18, 2005 Share #9 Posted November 18, 2005 You should look into one of those carbon or fiberglass hatch replacements. Saves weight.
