1970 240Z Console Defroster Switch

Recommended Posts

I think it's pretty much toast. It doesnt move an inch. It looks and feels like someone shoved dirt and grease and oil into it for 35 years. I think I need a new one.

Another question - I suck at electrical. Should one of the 2 wires leading to the switch light up my circuit tester light? In other words, do they carry the 12v?

MSA lists the switch for the 70-71 as both unlit and lighted

P/N 45-4001 70-71 unlit

P/N 45-4006 70-71 lighted

the unlit is marked as [A] (limited availability)

the lighted is $28.61

This is the one that I have on my shelf (nissan) P/N 25350-E8701

If some one is interested I'll sell it for $15.00 It's new in the box (only removed for photo)

Yours must be a late '71 then, without the hatch vents. My car also has the original one, which is the same as the one pictured above.

Yup, check out my sig. So my Z is better than your Z, nanny nanny boo boo. Hahahahaha.

Nope, neither yours nor mine are better than one another, just different. While there are some people that feel that one vintage is better, I'm not one of them. There are some things I like about the really early cars like mine, and some things I don't. If I had found a decent buy in a later 240 when I was hunting for mine, I'd have taken it. There are no bad Z's.

Your attitude sucks...and you should read a little more carefully. It was said that 70/early 71's had the black switch....you obviously have a late 71 (series 2)...

You are the one that said you had one like described (early 71) but it actually was a late 71...then said sarcasticly (sp?) that that's what your sig said...

Don't post if you have nothing to say.

I'm going to put my antenna switch in that middle plug on the choke/fuse cover, but my car is a series III (10/71)...

If this hole cover works for the early ones (and I'm not sure) I'll offer it up for nothing...just pm.
