("enclosed pdf") Looks like a great opportunity to see some Z's, Roadsters, 510's etc if you're in the area. preith Posted January 17, 2006 Share #5 Posted January 17, 2006 Ron Carter mentioned to me that he may be attending, perhaps he'll chime in. It's tempting, but I'll have to pass. I still have to complete a few more races to get my full comp liscence and won't race anywhere else until that happens. On a bad note, I have to say, for the spectator these larger events are great, but for the participant they can be a royal pain. The Brian Redman Challenge (which may challenge the Mitty for "the largest event" title) is in my back yard, and I honestly don't know if I'll ever attend it. All of the fellow vintage racers I've spoken with say it's just too busy, both on and off the track, and the ratio of track time to the amount of days you're there isn't good either. 2003z Posted January 17, 2006 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2006 Nissan was supposed to be the corporate sponsor, but pulled out. Its Mazda now. They were going to fly in some vintage race cars from california, but thats out now. gogriz91 Posted January 17, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted January 17, 2006 Nissan was supposed to be the corporate sponsor, but pulled out. Its Mazda now. They were going to fly in some vintage race cars from california, but thats out now.I'll forward a copy of the pdf poster to their corporate email account asking them if they're considering flying in those vintage sports cars. To have the Z featured so prominently in the ad and knowing how many will turn out they'd look like real buffoons to not at least try to step up to the plate. 26th-Z Posted January 17, 2006 Share #8 Posted January 17, 2006 I heard it was because they're spending all thier money moving to Tennessee.I hear ya, Preith! $ per track time is where it's at. Vintage racing is a little on the expensive side of the coin. Don't miss the Can Am reunion at Elkhart Lake. I'm still juggling the corporate books to pay for me to fly up to that one.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/18581-hsr-mitty-06-to-feature-japanese-sportscars/#findComment-152379 Share on other sites
Ron Carter Posted January 19, 2006 Share #9 Posted January 19, 2006 Well Gents,An ugly turn of events....I have also heard that Nissan has pulled the plug on this event and that looks to have killed any chance of getting my Z hauled across the country and back...I doubt that the BRE 510 will be there.Guys I want to be there, but 4K in hauling fees for a track day is too steep. I have an email into my friends at Nissan USA but it does not look good. There are about 10 of us, (who are willing to fly out there on our own dime if we can get transport across the country and back for our cars) including Hector (the artist that did "Zeal"). A number of first rate race cars that would be a great photo op, and positive marketing for Nissan.Personally, I was hoping to run with Gerry Mason and the #3 BRE Z....What an awesome photo op that would have been....Nissan is in so much termoil right now, I am not even sure who we would need to petition to get cars hauled out to the show. v12horse Posted January 19, 2006 Share #10 Posted January 19, 2006 I heard it was because they're spending all thier money moving to Tennessee.I cannot believe that they are moving their NA headquarters from Gardena, Ca to Tennessee. It is just a shame. I am sorry to hear about you possibly not bringing your car to the event Ron. Hopefully something will work in your favor. -Ben Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/18581-hsr-mitty-06-to-feature-japanese-sportscars/#findComment-152588 Share on other sites

26th-Z Posted January 19, 2006 Share #12 Posted January 19, 2006 I heard the same story from Les a few days ago, Ron. What a shame. And what a chance to say hello to the Southeast! Go figure. I would have shipped the JGTC car over.Well, I'm going anyhow. Road Atlanta is a great track. (Much different from when I drove it, but those days were crude.) The Mitty is a great event with a lot of great cars. We DO have Datsun race cars around here and most often, Theo Bean shows up with his GT and GTP Nissans. He just aquired the 1994 Daytona winning 300ZX from the Cunningham collection. He had it at Sebring last fall.I think you guys should come anyhow. We'll party.
