dejola Posted February 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2006 I'm looking for a professional auto restorer in the New York metropolitan area to restore a 1977 Datsun 280Z that is not particulalrly intrinsically valuable but which has sentimental value. If anyone knows of a reputable professional restorer I'd appreciate a name and contact information.Thanks.John Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/19047-need-reputable-280z-restorer-new-york/ Share on other sites
trvlndon Posted February 28, 2006 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2006 Are you looking for an engine out total restoration or is your focus mostly body work? Where are you in NY State? dejola Posted March 1, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted March 1, 2006 The car is a 1977 280Z with 64,000K on the odometer. It runs fine. Just want to "refurbish" and need someone who can recommend what should be done and who can also do the work. Work would mainly involve interior refurbishment, e.g. seats, carpeting console, steering wheel. Engine is okay. May also involve complete paint job. Thanks for your help. trvlndon Posted March 2, 2006 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2006 I just finished my exterior project using a local shop in Fairfield County Connecticut. The community of car buffs highly recommended him BUT he only works on restorations when the shop is slow. I had to wait two years for the Bugatti project he was working on to wrap up. Then he had my car from May till the third week of February. Took it down to bare metal, welded in new sheet metal and the car turned out better than new. If you want more info. let me know.
