Driving up from San Diego...but my Zs are staying at home, will drive the G35 6MT instead. I know many guys from my club plan to be there. I love this show, will get there early. How about the garage sale on Saturday? I am thinking about driving up for it....but with gas prices what they are I am wondering if it is worth it. I believe I meet Ron last year at the display of the BRE cars; nice guy.

JZM- i am interested in meeting up with you on the 5, are you planning on driving straight through from Wa to CA? then what time are you leaving WA? how long will your drive be?

Me and Leah (70' 240Z) and JZM (90' 300ZXT) are leaving on WED. morning and taking a nice leisurely pace to get there. We'll hit Northern California by Wed. night and find a motel.

It's over 1200 miles for us to get there and hopefully we'll have the new 5-speed in by then. I can't even imagine how much more I'll spend on gas if I don't have the 5-speed in by then.

Here's the short story....... found a 79'ZX 5-speed for $77 at the pull-a-part yard. pulled my tranni and installed the new one (w/ new clutch, T.O.B, pressure plate, and resurfaced flywheel..... NO CLUTCH release!

pulled it and swapped the short TOBearing sleeve for the longer ZX one, re-installed it. STILL NO Clutch engagement.

pulled it out again (3rd pull) and swapped the pressure plate for my old one, swapped back to the short TOB sleeve......IT WORKS.... but it slips real bad.

pulled it out for the last time (4th pull) (as far as I was concerned) and put in my old clutch plate then re-installed the tranni for the 4th time. NO SLIPPAGE!!! BUT....... now first and second gear are making a real bad noise..

Thats right, the new 5-speed has a bad main bearing and needs to be pulled (AGAIN!!!!!) and be rebuilt.

Soooo......

5-speed tranni and driveline for the 70'Z...........$77

gas to get wrong clutch arse. from a friend........$10

Lotion for my torn up back and hand cleaner.....$5

pissed off, stupid look on my face when JZM tell me that the tranni has to be pulled again and be rebuilt............................ Pricelesss

That's my week in a nut shell

Dave.

It was all because the clutch was free and not double checked.

As for the tranni being bad, thats what you get for $77 now-a-days.

I got 2 weeks (as of today) to get it right. cross your fingers for me.

Dave.

I just registered for the show. This will be my second time I attend this show. This has been stirring for a while, but I did not want to mention it until I had paid for the show. I will be driving down to San Diego on Thurs (Pharmacy convention for my gf), and driving up to LA on Saturday. I am really looking forward to this show. I hope to meet all of you there.

See you all there,

Ben :)

We're not going this year because we're doing the ZDayz Tail of the Dragon run in May. Will miss all the fun and hope it doesn't rain this year! Seems to be more and more 350Z's so enjoy the first gens while you can folks.

Have fun Ben, would have liked to meet up and talked and see your beautiful new wheels.:)
