AndysPlit Posted May 8, 2007 Share #26 Posted May 8, 2007 I took my Z from Los Angeles, to New Orleans and back. It was the greatest adventure ever! (4,ooo miles roundtrip) However, I did lose my 5th gear leaving Texas en route to Louisiana. 4th gear got me home just fine though. SportBikeMike Posted May 8, 2007 Share #27 Posted May 8, 2007 I drove my 260Z for 8 days straight, average 8 hours a day, all with a WORN uni joint, worn out old points ignition, a dying fuel pump and a really rich tune.Just as I got back to my home town it dropped the driveshaft with a lovely bang. Now i have a brand new driveshaft + uni joints, new tie rod ends, new fuel pump, slightly better tune and electronic ignition, soo much better now. But that said, i was glad I took my Z. I can relate! My 240 dropped the driveshaft about 3 weeks ago.....scared the daylights out of me....I thought both me AND the car were gonna die. Anyway, just had a new driveshaft put in and she runs about 1000X better! All the rattles, squeaks, vibrations, etc. are gone and she runs ALOT smoother. I love my Z again. e_racer1999 Posted May 8, 2007 Share #28 Posted May 8, 2007 i bought my current Z off of ebay from a guy in San Jose a couple years ago. Flew up there and drove her down. had to get a new battery half way down because the VR was screwed, but other than the smell of rotten eggs, the trip was great!
