The Fairlady 240ZG came in GP White, GP Red and GP Maroon. GP Maroon was a special colour for the 240ZG (paint code 116). Are you sure it is the same colour as one of the "other" browns, Eric? Which one? 301?

I just remember seeing a car here in the states that was that root beer brown and from memory it seemed to me to be the same color as the ZG... could be wrong though - i guess there might have been multiple shades...

as to the original purpose of this thread: what a sweet concept... if the drive wasn't so long i'd make the trip more frequently.. ahahaha

When you look at the 240ZG in GT4, it only has 3 factory colours, same as mentioned above. I doubt that would make a long thread.

Maybe someone has RAL or DuPont codes for these paints (I love the retro look of the maroon).

btw What paint did you use for your (red) Z?

I guess you are correct, it would be pointless to start a new thread on the factory colours. However maybe we could start a thread on all the interesting colours a ZG has been painted. I know I've seen quite a few interesting colours.

My favourite is yellow it really gives it that older Ferrari look.

My Zed was painted in a "Ferrari red" shade however the original colour was a shade of Silver can't recall the exact number.

When the time comes to strip the car down to a bare shell and apply a new colour it will be a hard decision. I'm thinking of going with the original silver or original red 910? However I'll try not to get too worried about it, still a while away, engine first.

Either answer the question or don't.

I certainly don't need to be told about the search function, as I have devoted an ungodly amount of time utilizing it in the past two years. Not to be too rude, but I hate it when people swing the search function ax around to people who have more than a fair amount of posts and are not asking vague questions.

The short answer is that the ebrake is supposed to be on the drivers side and they coulndn't be bothered moving it to the drivers side for the USA market cars, so that why its over on the passenger side.

I certainly don't want to fight with anyone. I love this site. One of the reasons I like this site so much, is the tone it contains. It is mellow and respectful a majority of the time. It is a huge distraction and turn off for me at some of the other z sites b/c there is so much bickering and ego in effect.

This topic HAS been covered a great deal already as most things have. Going to that link makes it quite clear why I received the response I did. And...I learned why the lever is in the position it is...money.

I have to agree with Savannah Z, the tone on this site is what keeps me interested and active, although not as much as I would like. Good to see I am not the only one who lives on the search function, it is far more effective than some of the other sites. I have not had the pleasure of driving a HLS30 Z so I cannot apreciate the the E brake position, but with the world as it is I am sure I will get a chance one day.

Hi

When I was in Japan 2 weeks ago I took a visit to the Fairlady Cafe. It is in the town of Kasama, which is about 80 minutes north of Tokyo by train. Since we had a Japan rail pass to give us the train ride for free we decided to go up there. It was not within walking distance of the train station so we had to get a taxi.

It is a Cafe with a display of Z cars downstairs. There is a workshop on the side with a hoist and tools but that is not used as a daily mechanical workshop. Perhaps the owners workshop. They do not sell any parts, but sell some Z merchandise.

The guy that owns the cafe owns most of the cars in the showroom but not all of them. There is the beautiful 2000 Sports, 280ZX, 240ZG, 300ZX (first series) and a convertible 300ZX (Z32). All cars are in immaculate condition.

We were there for about 2 hours and had lunch at the cafe. The 2 cafe staff were very friendly and gave us some of the stuff they were selling. They gave me a calender produced by the Fairlady Owners club of Tokyo called the "Z Project". OK it is for 2006 and maybe would not have sold it but some great cars on it. The calender is the same format the the 2007 one being sold by MSA, I wonder who copied who? They also gave me a copy of a the 10th Anniversary Album produced by the same club and some Fairlady matches.

I bought a Fairlady Cafe bumper sticker, a Z car lanyard and a Fairlady T shirt.

We had some difficulty in communication over the lunch order and the girl suddenly disappeared and came back with her laptop with Wi-Fi card and connected to Google translator. She typed in Japanese and hit the translate to english button and I did the reverse. Very effective.

Photos of my 2 Z's are now on their photo board with the web address for Vic Zcars on the back.

All in all a nice relaxing 3/4 day ride into the country side.
