Palmer Posted June 9, 2006 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2006 I ordered a lower-left-rear fender patch panel from MSA back in March of 05. They told me a month later it was out of stock. Yesterday, 1 year and 4 months later they decided to call me and tell me that they would not be able to fill the order. Crazy stuff.:stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20351-msa-finally-calls-about-a-part-125-years-later/ Share on other sites
Virto Posted June 9, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 9, 2006 ! Stuff gets lost in the buracratic maze of modern business, I see it all the time. It is funny though, that they bothered calling at all, you'd think after looking at the order, they'd have just assumed you'd given up. SJGREEN71 Posted June 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2006 I had my first experience ordering from MSA a couple of weeks ago. The hydralics on my clutch went out and my car was stuck 50 miles from home. The mechanic where I had the car towed said the local Nissan dealer wanted $80 for the slave cylinder alone. MSA sold me the master, slave, and the flexible line all for about the same as the dealer wanted for the slave alone. All the parts were either Tokiko or Nissan and they sent it the same day. My Z was back on the road in a couple of days. I couldn't be happier with the transaction. DeesZ Posted June 10, 2006 Share #5 Posted June 10, 2006 Yes, odd stuff happens.... I agree, they deserve honorable mention for finally following through. Most places would just sweep that one under the carpet and hope to never hear about it again. I've placed several orders with them over the last year and received far, far above average service each time. Mistakes have always been handled quickly at 100% their expense (yep, even return postage). I'm very critical when it comes to customer service (because I train people to do that). That's what keeps me going back to them..... I hope they keep it up! My only let down with them has been their failure to respond to several email inquiries. jmortensen Posted June 10, 2006 Share #6 Posted June 10, 2006 If that was the dogleg patch you were looking for, it is actually made by Tabco and you can order direct from them. http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/ FWIW I ordered them about a year ago. They said they were backordered for 2 months, parts showed up in 2 weeks. Free shipping too. a7dz Posted June 10, 2006 Share #7 Posted June 10, 2006 Wish I could say the same about tabco. Never did get a response from them. Ordered from MSA had them in three days cheaper then the printed catalog prices. All my dealings with MSA have been good. hls30.com Posted June 10, 2006 Share #8 Posted June 10, 2006 I have had great experiences with Tabco for the last 13 years or so-never waited more than a 10 days for an order, the pieces came in perfect, and I have never had an issue-sory to hear about yours...Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20351-msa-finally-calls-about-a-part-125-years-later/#findComment-170615 Share on other sites
Blue Meanie Posted June 10, 2006 Share #9 Posted June 10, 2006 MSA has been very, very, good to me. I ran into a similar situation with a heater control knob, but they called me the next day to tell me it was out. nwcubsman Posted June 11, 2006 Share #10 Posted June 11, 2006 I had issues with a header I bought from MSA. Poor quality that needed to be repaired at a muffler shop before I could use it. I sent an MSA manager digital photos of what was encountered. They gave me full credit for the header and reported the issues to their supplier. I really don't think I could have asked for a more standup solution to my situation. I think MSA earned my allegience. lonetreesteve Posted June 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted June 11, 2006 I ordered a lower-left-rear fender patch panel from MSA back in March of 05. They told me a month later it was out of stock. Yesterday, 1 year and 4 months later they decided to call me and tell me that they would not be able to fill the order. Crazy stuff.:stupid:I had the same problem with the same exact part from MSA. As you guys probalby all know by now, MSA buys that particular part (among others) from Tabco. After waiting for a couple months, I cancelled the order with MSA when I found out I could order this part and other parts directly from Tabco for less money. I received the other parts I ordered from Tabco very quickly, except for the left-rear fender piece. Tabco told me that they did not manufacture that particular part, that ithey imported from overseas somewhere. I kept calling and checking in about once a month with Tabco and a couple times I was told that the manufacturer's mold for the piece was broken and that it would be another couple weeks. After about 6 months, I called Tabco and cancelled the order since my bodyman was waiting for the piece and he finally just made the piece by himself. I have had good luck and good service with both MSA and Tabco, with the single exception of this one piece. I really look at it as poor manufacturer support and not MSA's or Tabco's fault since they were the middlemen in this situation. 240znz Posted June 11, 2006 Share #12 Posted June 11, 2006 I used MSA for a shed load of parts for my resto project. I waited 4 months....yes....four months to even get a reply to my emails. That was frustrating. I finally got hold of Sal. He worked through everything, gave me a discount and the parts shipped. They managed to send me two right hand rockers and arm rests. They sent new ones out as soon as I pointed out the mistake, backed by digital photgraphs. No questions, no quibble. I live in New Zealand too.So I would use them again for sure and will be soon.
