s14280zx Posted June 10, 2006 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2006 I am changing from FI to triple webers on my 79 280zx, and was wondering how I was going to modify the wiring harness from the FI. Can I eliminate the wiring for the fuel injection, and ecu all together? What wiring would I have to keep to make this work. Would it be simpler just to get an aftermarket wiring harness like Painless wiring, or should I just cut the stock harness up? What would you guys recommend? Dtsnlvrs Posted June 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 11, 2006 The FI harness is completely separate from the rest of the wiring harness....mostly. Just remove it completly, to include the ECU, and go from there. s14280zx Posted June 12, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted June 12, 2006 Thanks for the help. I'm going to start working on my engine in the next few weeks. I took the front bumper off Friday and am going to take the one off of my parts car this week some time . I was inspecting the rust on the frame in the front. It doesn't look too bad. It won't take too much to fix. As soon as I get a clutch kit. I'll probably put that and my aluminum flywheel on so I can get it inspected, and drive it a little bit. I've never driven it with a good clutch yet, but it still had decent power with the worn out one. It was slipping badly the last time I drove it, so that is next on my long list.
