nismo35 Posted June 15, 2006 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2006 I just thought I would take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Rondal and I live in Maiden NC. As the title states I live in a very small town that goes crazy for it's 1A football team. I work in Charlotte NC which is 37 miles away. I presently own a 1976 280Z that has fueling problems that are kicking my butt, a 1997 240SX SE with a boat load of bolt on mods and my wife drives a 2002 Crew Cab Frontier. I've owned Nissan/Datsuns since 1986 when I bought my first Z, a 1970 240. For you older guys from the south my dad worked for years with David Bell of Bell Racing that raced Z's in the early 80's. That pretty much covers it. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20426-hello-from-the-biggest-little-football-town-in-nc/ Share on other sites

kenz240z Posted June 15, 2006 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2006 Welcome, Rondal. I grew up in Lincoln, NE. Moved to Colorado 6 years ago, but haven't been able to shake the Big Red fever! Post some pics of your Z when you get a chance... nismo35 Posted June 15, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted June 15, 2006 Thanks guys. I'll try to get some pictures up of the Z, it's not much to look at right now, I've got the interior out and I've started sanding everything down so it sort of looks like a wreck now. nismo35 Posted June 16, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted June 16, 2006 I think I have it narrowed down to the TPS or the cold start valve. It starts and idles but when you give it gas it either; sputters and backfires through the AFM or dies. So far I've dropped the gas tank and had it sandblasted and recoated, new fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit, new injectors and new AFM. None of which seemed to have helped:disappoin ! naviathan Posted June 16, 2006 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2006 Pull the cover off that TPS and check it out. There's not much to them really. Could just be bad contacts or moisture in it. Let us know how it goesI'll keep that in mind. I gave up on it at the end of last summer and now that it's warm I've put a new battery in it and started tinkering again. I'm going to try taking the cover off the TPS and mess with the timing. I really appreciate all the replies.
