Hello All,

I just bought a 77 280Z from a gentlemen with my company who was the orginal owner. (Even had a copy of the orginal invoice from 1977 for $8800) Boy am I glad that I came across this site because I'm sure I will have plenty of questions in the future about this car. Thanks in advance to all for providing access to the huge amount of info available on these great cars.

You might look at those wheels, they are referred to as "SIDED" wheels and I may have the name in error BUT the key thing about those wheels is that they are Right and Left sided wheels.

Your Left Rear wheel should be on the Right Front and vice versa.

OR

Your Right Rear to the Left Front.

But you might also check and see if there are some "vanes" in the dark portion of the wheel that would either push air OUT from under the car or IN towards the brake. Some of these wheels were designed that way to purportedly help the volume of air / cushion of air underneath the car at higher speeds. And depending on front / side / rear skirts or air packages would purportedly "significantly" increase the amount of down-force of the car. It's sales talk.

As it stands, you have the front doing opposite air pushes as well as the back.

Another way of looking at it...Look at the wheel, and imagine that the CENTER of the wheel was able to spin for part of a revolution before the OUTER rim began to spin....causing the "spokes" to distort.

Your Left Front wheel looks as if it were moving forward, whereas your Left Rear looks as if it were going in reverse. Hard to see the Right hand side, but I'll bet it's Front going backwards and Rear going forward.

Arne is the wheel connoisseur and will (hopefully) add to everything I'm posting here. But the reason for posting this, is that your car's wheels look uneven.

Hard to say from the small pictures, but they look like Ultra's to me. As I recall it, Enkei may have made that style also. But the Enkei's didn't have a lip on the outside for weights to clip to, and your caps look like Ultra caps as well.

Either way, the directional appearance on that style of wheel was for looks only. There was/is no functional fins or other air-moving component to those wheels. It really has no effect on the car or how it drives as to which wheel is where.

But if you look at the back sides of the wheels, I think either brand had a recommended side of the car cast in - 'R' or 'L' for the Ultras, the Enkei's might actually have Right and Left cast. Use those as a recommendation, if you prefer the looks of them on the opposite side, go for it.

If it were me, I'd swap the right front with the left rear. Or you could swap the left front with the right rear, either way will even things out.

Hehehehe.....I noticed that when I bought the car. Owner said he had the tires rotated and forgot to have them matched up until after the fact. It is on my to do list. :-)

Welcome to the fray! Where the heck is Hercules? Never heard of it. Guess it's map time.

Hercules is located in the SF Bay Area 20 miles North of Berkeley about 5 miles before the Carquinez Bridge. (For those of you familiar with the area.)

I just drove the car to work for the first time and everyone is impressed with the shape that it's in. I was told by my co-workers to ask how much do you guys think a car like this is worth?

Hard to say what it's worth without all the details and more pics, but my guess would be somewhere in the range of $4000 - $5000, of course the real answer is whatever someone would pay for it.
