RobertH Posted July 21, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2006 I am ready to buy carpet for my 72 240Z. What vendor offers the best quality? Blue Meanie Posted July 23, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2006 I just installed carpet from MSA and was very pleased.H HoughtonI've liked everything that I have bought from MSA. The majority of the things I buy come from MSA. I bought the carpet from Too Intense because it was the same thing, but $30.00 cheaper. kjb2000 Posted October 15, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 15, 2006 Hi, i want to install the full carpet in my 71 240z, but it had none when i got it. So do these kits sold by "too intense" go over the tranny tunnel and will jute material on the floor boards and tranny tunnel be ok to do. It came with the diamond vinyl with jute under it on the tunnel, so do i just go carpet and skip the vinyl piece or do both?Or is there a better route for me to take. Also what kind of underlayment did most of you do on the floor boards before the mats or carpet were applied?kevin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20900-240z-carpet/#findComment-185844 Share on other sites

26th-Z Posted October 15, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 15, 2006 New guy on the block http://www.datsunspirit.com/ Give him a try. this is his blog and you can read about his projects. http://blog.livedoor.jp/datsunspirit/One thing about carpet. The rear deck matt often comes with a sewn slit down the middle from the front. This is for access to the tool doors. If your car has the plastic covered tool bins behind the seats, it should not have the slit in the carpeting. Instead, the front of the matt has little indentations for the lugggage strap bracket. dogma420 Posted October 15, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 15, 2006 if you want carpet to cover the tranny tunnel, you should order the carpet kids for 74.5 260z's and/or for 280z's....these are the kits that would come with carpet for the tranny tunnel / rear shock towers. The 240z carpet kits don't come with these carpets. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20900-240z-carpet/#findComment-185893 Share on other sites
dogma420 Posted October 15, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 15, 2006 of the people on here who have ordered carpets, who sells the carpets WITHOUT the holes for the luggage straps? vercingetorix Posted October 15, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 15, 2006 MSA sells a 240Z carpet kit that covers all the diamond vinyl areas, Transmission tunnel, luggage riser, wheel wells, shock towers and scuff areas under sill plate. The later model carpets wont fit as the consoles were longer than the 71 and leaves about a 4 inch bare spot, I am aware of this only because I was shipped a 73 transmission tunnel carpet by mistake. As for underlayment I used three layers of butyl sound dampner and then a layer of "Luxury Liner" from Second Skin Audio the sound difference is amazing. Now all I need is cash for a killer stereo to take advantage of my new found quiet.Best,H Houghton Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20900-240z-carpet/#findComment-185907 Share on other sites
