xxjoeyxxeb Posted July 26, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2006 Hey guys, I think I have an exhaust leak, and when I was checking it out, I saw this, which doesn't look too stock, but I'm not sure. Can anyone ID if this is a stock piece on the 260z exhaust, or if its some sort of exhaust leak fix? Thanks, Joe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20949-is-this-stock-or-a-cover-up/ Share on other sites
a7dz Posted July 26, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2006 It is just a wide clamp. Bean dip used them on his car as well fit into tighter places and give you better flexibility. Darrel Posted July 26, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 26, 2006 The exhaust could be rusted out under the heat shield. Get a stethascope or piece of rubber hose to narrow down where the leak is coming from. hls30.com Posted July 26, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 26, 2006 Feel at the back of the exhaust manfold, right under the EGR-it is very common for that are to develop leaks-two of my late S30s did. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20949-is-this-stock-or-a-cover-up/#findComment-176104 Share on other sites

240ZX Posted July 27, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 27, 2006 Well xxjoeyxxeb, from the looks of your exhaust and the pic deeddee provided, it seems yours is stock. However, finding the actual leak location is another story, to which you'll just have to seek it out......or, just replace the exhaust system and be done with it. Happy hunting! dzrt1st Posted July 27, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 27, 2006 It is shown on the drawing of the exhaust system on the Parts CD for cars built from Aug 73 - Nov74. It doesn't show a seperate part number for it though. Earlier cars are shown with a different exhaust. shamus11 Posted August 9, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 9, 2006 Have you tried getting someone to stick their hand over the end of the tail pipe to almost fully block the exhaust, this will exagerate the problem and possibly make it easier to find.
