Darrel Posted July 28, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2006 The bolts should come off as well. Get a block of wood or a rubber mallet, it should pop off. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20972-axel-stubs-half-shafts/#findComment-176246 Share on other sites
Gav240z Posted July 28, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2006 Yes rust and corrosion often bind the two together with a bit of hammering like Darrel said it should come loose. Chino 240Z Posted July 28, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 28, 2006 Dropkick, Here some interesting stub axle info. Thought I'd pass it on. Good Luck, Craig http://www.magshooterz.com/280z_stub_axle_swap.htm http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/rearwheelbearings/index.html R&R-ing stub axles can develop some interesting 4 letter words. Dropkick Posted July 28, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted July 28, 2006 The bolts are stuck too. I didnt want to try and pry against the backing plate to pop them out. I've been soaking them with PB blaster and trying to knock the shaft back towards the diff. Maybe a few shots from the side will loosen it up.
