deedee Posted July 30, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2006 I'm having a problem with some interior stuff. My Map light, dome light, glove box, key in buzzer, windshield wipe pump motor. All I know so far is that ther is no power to the wires for the motor and the fuse box doesn't have power either.I have figured out that all of this stuff is on the same circuit. Were should I start to find the problem? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!DeeDee Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20994-interior-electrical-proplem/ Share on other sites
Curtis240Z Posted July 30, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2006 Check the fuseable link by the starter. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20994-interior-electrical-proplem/#findComment-176489 Share on other sites
a7dz Posted July 30, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 30, 2006 I agree with Curtis to check and see if you have power through the fusible link. If you don't you need to replace it after you figure out what is going on with the fuse in your fuse box. Otherwise you may very well be in a vicious circle where one part is causing all these problems which is my guess. Could be as simple as a shorted light bulb or turn signal flasher and as complicated as a shorted wire some where. deedee Posted July 31, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted July 31, 2006 I checked the fusible link, I can't remember but one of the links were getting hot! the wire had 2 hot spots and the connector plastic was melted. this may be the problem. how do I fix it? enzo250GTO Posted July 31, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 31, 2006 HI, Had the same problem at one time with mine. You can buy fusible links from the nissan dealer or the cheaper way to go is just get an auto electrician to make them for you. Also make sure the connectors are not corroded. Should cost less than $10 each. David. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/20994-interior-electrical-proplem/#findComment-176522 Share on other sites
deedee Posted July 31, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted July 31, 2006 took out the dash. what a pain glad I did though. I fuond a lot of problems.#1 the flasher unit plug melted, replaced with new connectors and new wire to the juntion box.#2 at the junktion box the green wires w/white to black plug and the brown plug were spiced to go to the ignition switch, I fixed the splice it was open (?) and rusty cut it and put new wire.#3 Main black w/white in black connector was fried and melted the pin in the connector is even black. it goes to ing.sw. and to the fuse box the spot that kept blowing fuses.#4 the combo switch connector is melted on the one side and I'm planning to fix it tomorrow and I'm not done looking at the harness yet. I can't believe the car ran as well as it does. The dash wiring needs a lot of help. this stuff is what I found so far and I'm not done lokking yet. This resistance will cause the wiring in the circuits to get overly hot. sideshowbob Posted August 1, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 1, 2006 The wire splices in the harness from the fusible link box to the starter. They corrode to dust and each is split off to a different system. Save some time and headache by checking this first, since there's not even power to the fuse box.
