There have been many seats fitted into S30s. I put a set of Fierro Seats in my 240Z(check for the red Z tan interior in my gallery), and seats from BMWs, Hondas, and VWs in other S30a. Carl Beck has a good article on Zhome on putting Infinity or Lexus seats in his Z. A member in Vz has put 300ZX seats in his car. I am sure there are others in addition to the aftermarket seats that are available.

I put a set of Recaro's in my Z, yes they are expensive but they are very comfortable fitting them wasn't too hard and if you look around you can get seat rails designed for them in Japan.

I'd probably upgrade to Mazda MX5 seats since they are very similar in design and are almost a bolt in solution from what I have read and heard. I'm sure you can get a nice looking set cheap too!

I hope Jay won't mind if I ask another question in this topic - are there any companies that make vintage-like seats? I want to change the seats in my car, but I don't think that modern buckets would look good inside. I'm searching for something that looks as if it was designed for the Z.

I am restoring a 1972 240Z. What is the best advice on Seat upgrades ?

I am looking for sport seats that are confortable for long hauls.

3 point harness is the plan.

Thanks, Jay :bandit:

Hi Jay:

So far here's the best I've found. <a href=http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/AcuraSeats/AcuraBeck.htm TARGET=NEW> 96-98 Accura Seats </a>

I've now put thousands of miles on the car with these and I've been very happy with them.

OOPs! I knew they were from a second brand of a familiar manufacturer-sorry for the misinformation...should have verified befor posting.

PS, I'll post some "fit" pictures of the Fierro seats in a bit.

Carl, great piece on seat alternatives, did you finish the article on fitting the Acura Integra seat? Looks like it stopped at fitting the strap metal to the bottom of the seat.

The last thing you should see in the article is - "That's About It For Now"...

So - when you have the metal braces in place on the seats, and the original seat tracks bolted to the braces (as in the last picture) - you're done. Except for bolting them back in the car of course... they are the stock seat brackets and bolt back to the stock position...

I have not yet recovered them, nor added the memory foam... as they have been fine just the way they are... and just too many other projects got in the way.

Carl

My solution was to use a pair of new seats that fit the car and felt good and had them reupholstered. I will be using some 1/8" steel strips and the sliders to attach them to new Baddog seat brackets. Pic below.
