MarcTheNarc Posted August 31, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2006 Greetings all. I picked myself up a '71 240z not too long ago and couldn't be any happier with it. It's got triple Mikuni's, 6-2-1 header, and some kind of body kit on it as of right now (that's how I bought it). The L24 was also rebuilt about a year ago, still trying to find out the exact specs of the rebuild. I believe, but am not certain that it has an aftermarket cam in it as well, as the idle is a bit choppy but it SCREAMS above ~4500 rpm. I've always wanted a Z, and am still in shock that one this clean fell into my lap, in Alaska of all places. I also own 3 other Nissans, an '87 Pulsar XE, a boosted B13 ('92) Sentra SE-R, and a '93 240sx. The Pulsar and Sentra are on the market right now to provide some extra funding to the Z restore and build. When I return home (NC) in a few months it'll be getting a complete restore along with some suspension and drivetrain work, just haven't decided on the powerplant yet. Jackhammer Posted August 31, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 31, 2006 Welcome... Looks like you found a good one! You will find if you haven't already all kinds of great information here on this sight. The search tab is "where it is at". So start digging down into your pockets....I hope they are deep and start building your dream machine.Jack Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21392-another-newb/#findComment-180550 Share on other sites
ncz Posted August 31, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2006 Marc, looks like a good find, even in the wilds of AK. As Jack said, once you start to get into it, you will find a lot of hidden "goodies"(read rust). But thats just part of the love. Clean it up(looks good now) fire it up and have fun before you tear it apart. Where are you moving to in NC, lot of good Z guys down here to help you get going Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21392-another-newb/#findComment-180551 Share on other sites
=Enigma= Posted September 1, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2006 Nice find and nice handle. Does that reflect your profession or did you choose it because it rhymes and it's all you could come up with? gogriz91 Posted September 1, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 1, 2006 Amazing to find a Z in Fairbanks, I would have thought they had all rusted away after 5 winters! Sounds like the perfect car to campaign in the SCCA region up there. MarcTheNarc Posted September 1, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted September 1, 2006 Yeah I still can't really believe that I found it up here, and got it for $2500. From what I've been able to see so far there is VERY little rust on it. I'll be moving to Iron Station, NC, just north of Charlotte. I'm currently Active Duty Air Force, but I separate in December. As for the screen name, its a nickname I picked up a while back, and I can't even remember how. It just kinda stuck. =Enigma= Posted September 1, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 1, 2006 Isn't cold air dry air? Could this have something to do with it? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21392-another-newb/#findComment-180688 Share on other sites
MarcTheNarc Posted September 1, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted September 1, 2006 Up here the winters are VERY dry. And they use sand/gravel instead of salt on the roads. CoastGuardZ Posted September 2, 2006 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2006 Welcome Marc... good find especially in AK !!??!?!?!? It's good to see another active duty (even if it is just for a few more months) from the Carolinas. I'm from Charleston, just kinda displaced in NY right now.Nate Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21392-another-newb/#findComment-180808 Share on other sites
MarcTheNarc Posted September 2, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted September 2, 2006 Thanks for all the kind words fellas. I'll definately track down some of you Carolina locals when I get home, I love having geek outs and team wrenching days. Something about burgers, beer, and fellow enthusiasts that I really enjoy.
