240Z orig. radio - no brackets?

I checked again. No bracket to attach/support/ground the radio. I guess I'l have to find a used one? Does it attach to the metal "ears" at the base of the opening for the radio to which the faceplate is fastened? Any suggestions as to where I might find an original bracket?

Ok, next item.

It sounds as though you have an early 71, which means the dash is just a bit different in appearance and construction.

I'll check my old dash and see what I can post.

Odd. Both of my dashes (10/70 and 4/71) have the bracket as shown. I wonder if Phil's was removed in the past by someone making more room for a deeper head unit?

I have a 2/71 dash and on my Z 8/71 the brackets are spot welded. If Phil's is gone how did they remove it?

Arne makes a good point, I was going off memory (it's been a few years since I disassembled a Series I car) and since the picture posted by moonpup is from a 73.... I recalled that my car had the bracket on the dash I installed, but wasn't sure on the dash I removed. NWCubsman's also had the bracket so, to make sure I couldn't for a fact state that he SHOULD have that bracket.

FWIW...while the illustration pic was from the 73 manual, the actual dash pic i posted was from a 72. The link below, from Mr. Beck's site, shows (somewhat) the 70/71 dash compared to the 72/73 dash.

Is this the radio bracket that we are looking for? The pics were sent to me by the ebayer that is trying to sell the entire dash. He flipped over the dash and took pictures from the back. It does look like what you described.

Yeah, looks pretty much the same as mine, as best I can see in the picture. I'd be really surprised if that cross-brace/bracket wasn't spot-welded in place.

If there is no bracket there some one has cut it out. My 6/70 also has the bracket along with the stock AM radio.
