Trust me, I know first hand how expensive Mudd is, as that is where my son is now. In his last year, thank goodness.

Arne, I would be proud if I were you! For getting your son through Mudd college cause around here many people would love to have had the experience. Cindy wanted to attend in her college days, but couldn't put her father through it! LOL

I've seen several nice areas in the Inland Empire.

I grew up in Upland, married in Cucamonga, 1st home in Ontario, 2nd and LAST home in Chino. So I think you know the area well then. Inland Empire is still growing like crazy and farther East too. The housing & development helps keep my work busy building electrical control systems for well pump stations for all the thirsty people in the new areas. Actually I avoid the city areas and it's head aches as much as possible. Just 3 places to be Home, Work (Colton) and the tracks, sometimes at San Clemente beach to escape this whole mess! LOL

I live in Phillips Ranch, and that is not too far away. Hey ChinoZ, The 76 station here in the ranch has 100 octane fuel as well. It is on the Loop. That is alot closer than having to drive to the fairgrounds or Covina. Been here about 15 years now, Was a southbay boy before that.

Thanks Randy, I'll have to check it out next week.

Thats right, I remember seeing a post of yours sometime back, and you too are close by. hmmm lets see, how many is that just a lugnuts throw away from each other? 4,5 or 6?

Hey Craig, thanks for the list of engine parts. I love to know what race cars run. Thats pretty awesome RWHP for a 2.4. Why did you stay with a 2.4 instead of moving up to the 2.8? And what kind of head is E3100 is that the same as the E31? How did you get the 480 valve lift to work with stock nissan springs? I have a 460 lift cam and I had to use schnider springs... well, they said that I "should" use the schnider springs to allow for the increased lift and mainly to prevent valve float. Where is WSIR track?

Thanks for the info. Matt

Matt,

We were surprized with the results of the 2nd trip to the dyno too.

We were actually looking for a 5800 to 6000rpm miss and had those results with the miss. Since then we have smoothed out the miss, but doubt there is much more power left it this thing. We went with the L24 since that is what the 2 motors were when we found this car and didn't have much more money to make the next step. But.... perhaps after the first of the year we will try to get a L28 together. We have been making notes and talking about it recently. No matter how fast or how much power your motor may have, there is always another faster! For me I don't have the time or money to constantly doing tear down, rebuild and maintance on a real race motor. There is 2 of us putting double time on this car, so we have to take that into mind when planning for up grades & parts for the car. I sure like Marty Rogans idea of that L28 Jasper motor he recently put in his car.

The motor notes are from an old word doc. that I was making years ago and copy & paste it to make typing easier. There are some changes that I have not yet made and need to update.

Yes, the E3100, actually the correct part # 11041-E3100 (I think) or also called the E31 head. Another 240 head is the E88 or 11041-E8803, a 280 head N42 13201-N4200 and so on.

The cam grind is the L-480 by Iskendarian, and no not stock springs... I believe they were Schnieder. Increase spring pressure helps prevent valves from floating or staying open with the higher lift, and hopefully enough to help them close before the piston has a chance to slap em at the higher rpms. If high revs is what your motor sees, then yes should be in the plans of your motor build up.

WSIR is up the 14fwy Palmdale / Lancaster, Rosamond exit west. It is about a 2 hr. drive for us from Chino, with truck/camper pulling a trailer.

I'm not a Z tech & spec type person and don't enjoy knowing all the little details about the car and it's history. Just enough to keep it running hard, looking good and to enjoy once or twice a month at the track. I do like the fact that these cars bring smiles to alot of people when they remember once owning a Z and that they are still on the road & tracks today.
