Mr Camouflage Posted October 1, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 1, 2006 Around 2 or 300 of them Ah yes, the vent emblems. They usually are in good condition and don't often need replacing, so they slipped my mind. EScanlon Posted October 1, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2006 FYI: Your car being a 72 takes a Rear Deck "Datsun" Emblem just as shown in the picture. It has squared off ends on the end of the curved line for the capital "D" and the cross piece on the lower case "t" as the most noticeable difference to the style in use for the later 73 + cars. That latter emblem has rounded ends. Magnify these photos to make out the details. sblake01 Posted October 1, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 1, 2006 Not trying to confuse the issue but Datsun actually lists four different part numbers for these. One with no dates, one for up to 1/71, one for 2/72-7/73, and one for 8/73 and up. I'm just curious as to why the first number has no dates, the second one has no start date but goes to 1/72, and there is no mention of the period 2/71-1/72 on any of them? That all comes from the Z car microfiche cd. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21763-1972-240z-emblems-help/#findComment-184344 Share on other sites
7240z Posted October 2, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted October 2, 2006 umm....I think I am a bit confused.hehe. What does the first number represent in 1/72, 2/72 etc... sblake01 Posted October 2, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 2, 2006 Those numbers are the car's month/year of manufacture. I wouldn't worry much about what I asked in the previous post. I would have listed the actual part numbers but I doubt that all four numbers from the microfiche cd would still be available from Nissan. I was only asking for the sake of my curiousity. EScanlon's post shows the two that are available. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21763-1972-240z-emblems-help/#findComment-184391 Share on other sites
Zak's Z Posted October 2, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 2, 2006 OK, another question. Is the difference between those two available just a period-correct cosmetic difference, or is it the pins on the back are different or the size or something?Zak Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21763-1972-240z-emblems-help/#findComment-184424 Share on other sites
EScanlon Posted October 3, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 3, 2006 AFAIK; it is strictly a cosmetic difference. The only time I had one of the newer style emblems in hand was when I became aware of it (Pre-microfiche CD days), and thankfully Troy from Too Intense Restoration was willing to exchange it.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21763-1972-240z-emblems-help/#findComment-184450 Share on other sites
Zak's Z Posted October 3, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 3, 2006 Its neat learning about all these little differences in parts. I'm going to rummage through the box-o-emblems I have in the garage and see what I have.Zak Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/21763-1972-240z-emblems-help/#findComment-184462 Share on other sites
