New member with choke problem

Hello fellow club members. I'm the owner of a ' 71 240Z with what I believe is a choke problem, and could really use some help. One morning I got in the car, pulled the choke and fired it up. But I felt something was'nt right, so I got out my Uni-syn and checked the air flow into each carb. With the car idling at about 2000rpm, the rear carb air flow was good but the front carb was barely sucking any air at all. I've used the Uni-syn many times to set the air flow of the carbs when the engine was warm,but this is the first time I've used it with the chokes pulled. Why do I have so little air going into the front carb ? Thanks

Are you sure that the choke cables are working properly and that both carbs are being choked the same amount when you pull on it? One option would be to disconnect the cables and actuate the chokes by hand while testing with the Unisyn.

The chokes have two functions. The first half of the throw moves the nozzles down (richens the mixture). The second half opens the throttles a bit for fast idle. I suspect that your choke cables are not adjusted the same - one was on rich mixture-only, and the other was on fast idle.
