Nota280 Posted October 15, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 15, 2006 I hate to wear out the old prase, but 'use the search function'.Yeah, just making convestation.Since this is the open Zcar discussion area, here are some of my observations of the differences. These pertain to the 1970 - 1978 Fairlady-Z's.1. Same thin style front & rear bumbers2. Front grills were mesh type people like to think were unique to 432 option.3. Fuel doors have actual keyed locks (For sure 73 up).4. A seperate switch to turn on parking lights.5. Emblem on the hood says "Z" vs. "Datsun" on export U.S.A. models.6. There is no factory placed VIN on the left corner windshield like U.S. Models. 7. Japanese market 1977-1978 Fairlady-Z serial numbers start with S31.9. There is a momentary contact button at the end of the turnsignal switch to flash the high beams. Mr Camouflage Posted October 15, 2006 Share #14 Posted October 15, 2006 2. Front grills were mesh type people like to think were unique to 432 option.432 mesh grill was unique to the 432. The Fairlady Z mesh grill was a different type of mesh with different size mesh holes.3. Fuel doors have actual keyed locks (For sure 73 up).240Z's have keyed fuel doors too, since 1970, just not in the USA. 6. There is no factory placed VIN on the left corner windshield like U.S. Models. That is a USA requirement. 240z's in other countries didn't have the vins there either.Fairlady Z's had 5 speed gearboxes. So did 240Z's, Just not in the USA.Fairlady Z's and non USA 240Z's also had firmer suspension. 76Datsun280z Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #16 Posted October 15, 2006 So I've got one more question about this, so is a 240zg much different from a Fairladay Z? The ZG's seem to slope down in the front more than the 240's and the Fairladys. Thanks again the info guys!
