I'm new here

Hello everybody.

I'm new here to this forum. I have recently found a '73 240z with 47021 original miles. It needs a good paint job. I am in the process of changing out the struts all the way around. I have also purchased the master bushing kit from Black Dragon. It came with a complete new gasket/ weather striping kit. I'm also going to go ahead and change out the ujoints for sh-ts and grins. The other day I posted in someone thread about fuel gages. I have changed out the sending unit. The old and new in a change out tank both read half full when topped off. I'll figure it out, when I do, I'll post and let everyone know what the problem was.

As for personal info. My name is Kenneth, and I live on the outer banks of NC. This is a beach area just south of Norfolk VA. I'll be looking forward to having discussions with everyone on our so very cool cars.

I had always like these cars, then I guess since I hadn't seen one in decades, I had forgotten about them. I had been looking for a smaller car for awhile. Then after 1.5 years of waiting to get my wife here from China, this one popped up. I know a 240 isn't the best car to teach a 36 year old Chinese lady how to drive in. As a matter of fact, the first couple of weeks, everytime she dumped the clutch, or grinded my gears, I almost concidered sendind her back. Just kidding. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Welcome! One of the most memorable trips I have taken in a 240z was with myfather to my cousins wedding in Ocrakacoke, the ferry ride across was wild-the weather changed right in the middle!

Just don't let her go in a Nor'easter (the Z or your wife!)

Welcome to the club, just replaced the u-joints in my '73, what fun! Hopefully yours aren't as horrible as mine were. Just remember to unbolt the pinion side first.

Nice to meet you OBX.

My wife and I drove through the outer banks last March. It seems like a nice place, but for someone from farm country (like me) that big body of water to the east was a little un-nerving.

Anyway, take some time to search the archives here before your next repair. There is a lot of information here that no one else would ever tell you, and so far it is all free.

Note: You're either extremely trusting, crazy or just plain dumb. I'm not sure I'd trust anyone to drive the Z, much less someone learning to drive. No harm intended.

No harm incurred:) As a matter of fact, about 90% of the reactions I have received are the same,,. It just so happens, I have papers, I'm certified:). I'm extremely mistrusting, and as far as just plain dumb,,, I've been putting off taking the Mensa test for quite awhile. It just so happens, I've always felt the only way to learn how to drive was in a standard. After all, not so many years ago, all horseless carriages had manual transmissions. I've also been teaching her in my 5 speed, 4x4 Chevy . It is my belief that if one is trying to learn a new skill, they should actually learn the the skill. Not just bits and pieces of it.

My reply to all the others that have been concerned about someone trying to learn in a sports car. "It only goes as fast as you put your foot down."
