Hello!

I've sort of been lurking in here for a while, and yesterday decided that it was time to get signed up and start participating.

I'm 36, have owned 510s in the past but this is my first Z. I bought a '71 last fall - it's white with a blue interior and a five-speed tranny - and have been slowly going through it. It is all pretty much original, so I replaced the 'worn out' stock suspension with Tokico shocks and springs, installed ES bushings all around and an ST sway bar up front....then I got busy on the brakes. Slotted rotors, newly rebuilt calipers and Hawk pads, new Brembo drums and Nissan shoes in the rear. Braided stainless hoses are giving me a nice firm pedal now...

I pulled off the stock air cleaner and installed K&N filters with some MSA air horns, converted to Pertronix electronic ignition, and added a hot coil and a gel battery. Next item on the list is an IR alternator....I also pulled the stock two-row radiator and installed a three-row stock type radiator from MSA (they no longer stock the four-row radiator, apparently).

I have some floor pans that I got from Charlie Osborne, and I'll be having those welded in soon (probably just on the passenger side, since the driver floor looks solid). I'll need some work in the battery tray area while I'm at it. Once that's done, though, I'll be able to start reassembling the interior of the car (I have a Z logo carpet kit, Momo wheel, and soon I'll have some new 'blue' vinyl on the seats).

One of my winter projects will be having the door panels repaired (just some minor tears and stuff), and re-dyeing all of the interior panels with SEM vinyl dye (and I think Wedgewood Blue is going to be my color of choice).

I had thought about flaring the car, but then decided to go with some more reasonable wheels and tires (especially since I still have the L24 and I want to keep it). I'm running some 15" Konig Rewinds (graphite) and Goodrich gForce Sport tires. I had thought about getting some 'new' Ztherapy carbs and I probably will eventually, but for now I'm going to stick with the carbs that are on the car.

At any rate, that's me! I live in North Carolina, by the way. Hope I haven't forgotten anything....

Brian

Here is a copy of the Mitty 2006 poster.....

Hector signed a copy of that for me as well. Were you at the Mitty?

Here's a picture I took of 26th-Z coercing Hector to autograph a whole stack of posters:

Here is a copy of the Mitty 2006 poster.....

Well that was the Mitty 06 Poster until Nissan pulled out... then a new "Official" poster had to be rushed out...

One would have thought that with Nissan moving their HQ to the Heart of Dixie, they would have taken that opportunity to visit some of their new neighbors...

just my thoughs...

That didn't stop me - I just took another car... If we all waited until our cars were done, there wouldn't be many people at the events ;-)

I know, I know, I know......I also had some other stuff going on, too, and it just wasn't possible.

Next year for sure, though. I am committed to doing the ZVention in Daytona Beach, as well (I went to school in DeLand, so it will be a return to my old stomping grounds).
