V8 in a Z is fine by me...as long as its not a good 240. I dont like the idea of stipping a classic car of what makes it so great. I despise those who buy a restorable Series I 240 and just drop a V8 in it...it just boggles my mind why someone would "destroy" such a collectable car like that. Sure you could say "yeah, i dropped a V8 in this baby." and ppl would respond, but honestly, i get waaaaay more ppl talking about how great the L6 is, plus u dont see many of em, so when u pop to hood and see that big-arse L6 in there ppl go "ooooooo an inline 6 huh?". And lastly...you just cant beat the scream of an L6 at high rpms!

There is something about the V8 swap. I've been thinking about it for years. But like many others, I agree if the car is original and clean - preserve it's classic nature. But, if you have the dough, time, and know-how there's nothing so sweet as a big motor in a light car. Look what it did for the AC when Carol Shelby got a hold of it. I've seen some sweet, professionally done conversions, and would jump at the chance to BUY one. What I don't like is turning Z into a full blown dragster, all jacked up with monster slicks. It's like dressing your little sister in a leather teddy - it's not right to do that to a Z.

James240 actually said what I meant to say better.

What I meant by my post is that if done with care and precision on a platform that definitely supports the modification, it will look nice, professional and most of all appropriate. If not, however, it will look poor.

I agree with James, too many times the V8 conversion doesn't stop at just swapping out the engine, they go on and on adding on things that purportedly will make it a) faster, B) louder, c) more impressive; and unfortunately, end up leaving the car like the second individual in my original post. That is, fine as far as the individual is concerned, but everyone else has doubts.

I wasn't referring to your car as any of the things you posted. My main point then, was that too many mods are done without thought to anything other than your own internal mind's eye, and sometimes that fails to take into account many other salient factors.
