I am moving to Phoenix soon. If any members in that area have some advice about smog testing, license or other things I need to know. I would much appreciate the help. My Series 1, 240Z is a daily driver now but will get some rest when we get that 3 car garage.

You will need to pass emissions here because no Z car is old enough to get a waiver like in some states for 'classic cars'. There is a bill pending to change that and you can check it out at this link:

You should also check out the Scottsdale Pavilions car show every Saturday all year. Once a month the Desert Z Association turns up with some Z cars. I am there most weeks for a bit with mine since I live right up the street. The show is at the 101 and Indian Bend at the Pavilions shopping center.

You can check out the Desert Z Association here:

I chose not to join because the benefits and the social scene is not for me but they are good folks and post what dates they will be at the car show on the site.

I get work done on the car by Gary at Spanky's Auto in Mesa.

Gary knows his stuff and is a really nice guy.......

Your Z and your Avatar look alot like mine. Shoot me a PM when you get in if you wanna go to the car show at the same time and check them out....

Bring some suntan lotion:classic:

You couldn't have picked a better time to move here, the weather is terrific. The summer heat has left and we've recaptured the outdoors. Houses and cars get worked on, people are outside enjoying themselves.

For next year, consider getting your car's cooling system tuned-up in preparation for summer. If done by a mechanic, do it in the early spring when the shops are not as busy. If your car has AC, get that checked as well. Tinted windows on the car is a must and get a sunscreen for the dashboard. Many underestimate the summer heat.

What part of town will you be living/working in? Have you found a house yet? If not, try to get a house with north/south exposure and some trees on the west side to avoid as much of the late day sun as possible.

Next summer, just keep telling yourself it's a dry heat and you'll be fine. Welcome to the Valley of the Sun!!!

Thanks for the info and advice.

I’m glad my original smog parts are intact and working on the car. I will be in town next week looking for a house to rent for a while, and a job. We want to live in the south west, in Avondale or near buy. But I will probably have to commute to the East side where most of the industry is for work. Yes we have experienced the heat in July, and the nice winter? At Christmas while visiting friends and family there.
