Warms my heart to find so many others who have an affinity for the Classic Z car. It's funny how a car can become so much a part of your life without you even knowing.

My dad bought an orange 1972 240Z in 1974. Commuted during the week and raced it in week-end auto crosses (parking lot races) down South in the '70s, as did I in the 1980s and early 1980s. Many fun and fond weekends.

It was fun beating a Porsche 911, 914, 928 and an occasional Corvette (if they could make the class).

In the late 1980s I rebuilt the engine with both the help of my father and grandfather (a GM man).

The 1990's Northeast salt beat the car up quite a bit, but luckily I found a frame shop that specialized in resoration. "Last of the Zs we will likely see," they said at the end of the work 1998. The car has been stored since then.

With the passing of my dad earlier this year, I feel compelled to start the whole thing over again - with my son.

Like I said, It's funny how a car can become so much a part of your life without you even knowing.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to helping out when I can.

Steve

Welcome to you and your son!

Post pick of the three of you(Father, Son, and Z) when you get the chance, and picks from your early days with the Z if you have time. It is always interesting to see all of the people in a a Z family!
