Rags Posted January 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2007 I am having a lot of trouble locating a windshield for a friends Black Pearl resto. No one seems to be able to locate one. Are they still available? Anyone have a lead on a good one? I'm in NJ so please take shipping into account. Thanks!Joe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/22819-is-a-windshield-still-available-for-an-s30/ Share on other sites
bobc Posted January 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2007 You might check with Mike (administrator of this web site). He posted that he bought the last windshield available for his restoration. I looked a year or so ago and couldn't find one in the US. I could get one from Japan (6-8 week delivery) and it was pretty expensive. You might try a used one, but you'll have to accept some compromises on the quality.http://www.zcarsource.com/As far as a new one, courtesy nissan can tell you if it's a possibility.http://www.courtesynissan.com/Good luck!Bob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/22819-is-a-windshield-still-available-for-an-s30/#findComment-194432 Share on other sites
Arne Posted January 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2007 Aftermarket windshields are easily available from numerous suppliers, so I am assuming you are looking for actual Nissan glass? jmortensen Posted January 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2007 Arne's right. Aftermarket replacements are cheap and easy to come by. If you need actual Nissan glass then maybe get one out of a JY and try and polish some of the pitting out. Rags Posted January 1, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 1, 2007 Well I was looking for Nissan glass but now that my suspicions have been confirmed, it looks like I'll be using aftermarket. Anyone have an aftermarket supplier they can recommend? Thanks guys.Joe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/22819-is-a-windshield-still-available-for-an-s30/#findComment-194436 Share on other sites
Arne Posted January 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2007 I've got PPG glass in my red car, seems to be fine. Talk with a local auto glass shop and see what they recommend. Many times they will have a normal grade and a premium grade. Should be no shipping charge from a local shop. Darrel Posted January 1, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 1, 2007 check with elite auto glass if they are in your area. Not all glass is equal. You will notice this the first time when it's raining and the wiper doesn't lay flat on the glass and siting through the glass. 26th-Z Posted January 1, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 1, 2007 I believe windshields from Nissan are no longer available. The last one I saw came from Japan at around $1,000 delivered. Anyone have an aftermarket supplier they can recommend? Thanks guys.Joeyep just research a few glass shops in your area, if you have a local body shop or mechanic you trust ask them who they use...most auto glass shops are fully mobile and will come to your home or office and do the job.make sure you have the new new seal / weatherstrip for your windshieldready for them to use with the new glass. jmark Posted January 1, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 1, 2007 My son's '78 280Z has new PPG glass installed when we had it painted. It already had an aftermarket windshield which was pitted. My '71 240Z still has the original Nissan glass. bobc Posted January 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 1, 2007 One more thing to check...tinting and color. When I was briefly looking at aftermarket glass, most came fully tinted (blue) versus having the tinting only at the top of the windshield. Don't know if this matters, but something you might want to ask about.Bob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/22819-is-a-windshield-still-available-for-an-s30/#findComment-194456 Share on other sites
