The car is a 1977 datsun 280z. i haven't moved it yet form where i bought it for lack of resources to do so, but hopefully i'll have it soon, i play on getting the motor rebuilt, new tires, and at least a new paintjob, my budget is 3000 dollars and i hope when i'm done it will compare with some of the beautiful cars from this site.

How's it going man, glad to see another youngster from Washington on here. If you're going for a modified rebuild, you might want to re-evaluate how much you can spend. Best paint your car yourself if you're also building a motor.

Tires will be at least $200-$300 out of the budget. If you get your car painted by someone else it could be $1500 or $15000, you never know.

Hi Cody,

As another Washingtonian, and a Spokanite nonetheless, I join theianmonster in welcoming you to the board. Are you in Spokane proper, or up in Deer Park? (Just had breakfast at Pauline's in Deer Park yesterday morning, and enjoyed it.) There's invaluable information to be found here on the website. Use the search function for common questions and don't hesitate to post when you need advice or are in a tight spot...there are some great, knowledgable people here.

Gary S.

i know its gonna take some work, but that 3000 is the best i can get at the moment. i beleive it will stretch a little further than usual because i have a freind in town who is willing to teach me to do the work for the price of parts if i work on his schedule. and i will be heading to college within a year or so for automotive. this car is kinda my future right now. as for you Gary glad to find someone so close, i live up in deer park. next step is finding a job ^_^'

It may suprise you just how much of that money it may take just to get it up and going, but you can't lose faith.

You may also be surprised at how far that money will go, if you spend it wisely, and on the right things. As has been said, become familiar with the search function-it will help you figure out what is wrong (and right) with the car, before you go to the parts store. There is little worse than buying an expensive part that you think you need, only to find out otherwise.

Best of luck, feel free to ask, and feel free to answer.
