Goose52 Posted January 19, 2008 Share #25 Posted January 19, 2008 Performance Specialties. That was the name of the company back in the 70s. They had a shop in Monrovia, Ca. Those were the wheels they sold with the P/S logo and that was the name on the front of the building.Drats, I think I will just call them "P/S" mags ! WingZr0 Posted January 20, 2008 Share #26 Posted January 20, 2008 OK, 4 goods things here... DetroitZ Thaynks I'm glad I posted that info to the guy at the auction and Happier you joined the club, Welcome aboard. Well, if you spent the later half of the '70s, all of the '80s and most of the '90s making a living by selling custom wheels like I did, you'd probably feel pretty comfortable making definitive statements like that as well. Yeah I sense the POWER of that kind of experience, You get nothing but my biggest esteem They had a shop in Monrovia, Ca. ...and that was the name on the front of the building. Any idea if they sold decals there Blake Think those it'd be a nice addition to the fenders? Lastly I found the Mustang II concept car with those rims on YouTube! There are few great concept cars on this vintage 1960's film here from Ford showcasing they're then current concept and show cars at the time. The firts car (The Alegro) I like cause it looks like a cross between the 1st Gen Barracuda and a 240Z. The Red and chrome interior is nice also well as the Domino style foot pedals. WingZr0 Posted July 14, 2009 Share #27 Posted July 14, 2009 Looks like American Racing made these in 6 different sizes, I was told, and it was known as a model called "G. T." originally sold in six sizes, including 15x5.5 and 15x8. Centerline also made the same design and I was told to find a 1970's brocher for AR to see if the 15's were made in the S30 Z bolt pattern. If anyone has a scan of those borchers by chance please post, I'll try to find one too ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23305-who-has-a-set-of-these/?page=3#findComment-289556 Share on other sites
conedodger Posted July 15, 2009 Share #28 Posted July 15, 2009 I bought my Porsche 914 from the original owner (my Z too for that matter), He bought the car from Sierra Porsche/Audi in Riverside. The car was delivered with these wheels. 914 guys call them Western wheels. They weren't particularly light. They also aren't particularly popular. The dealers took off the factory Fuchs Wheel, a forged aluminum alloy wheel to put these things on so they could upcharge the customer for "alloy" wheels. I also have the original 8 track the dealer installed. Now if I can just find that Herman's Hermits tape... conedodger Posted September 3, 2010 Share #31 Posted September 3, 2010 Just about every Porsche 914 in Southern California had the factory alloy wheels taken off and a set of these "Western Alloy Wheels" put on. Then came the upcharge for the alloy wheels. They are heavy. The ones on my car were 15" X 5.5". Did I mention that they were heavy?
